Owner description: This is the unforgiving spot where George Washington's weary troops passed the brutal winter of 1777-78.

Great place to take a walk or a Sunday drive. My children like to look at the wooden "huts" as they call them. You need to be careful walking around the main road areas especially with children. There are interior walk-ways that I prefer more off of Route 252. They have a nice visitors center there with restrooms but you need to venture out from there to enjoy the view of the land.

We devote Presidents Day to visit. We drove the historic loop. What we saw was nice (Washington's home, arch, etc.) but we wish there was more to see. Would have been nice to have more demonstrations of how the soldiers lived as well as how the weapons worked. Perhaps a movie in the welcome center.

Come to Valley Forge and take in a Ranger program to learn the important history of the Continental Army entering the winter quarters at Valley Forge at a low point and emerging as a professional army with the training by the Prussian von Steuban and with the newly acquired support of France. Besides the ranger programs and an interesting visitor center with a well made movie that tell this story, the park is expansive with a driving tour, places to picnic, trails to hike trails or rent bikes to tour the park. The recreated cabins, National Memorial Arch and especially Washington’s Headquarters are highlights of the tour. The visitor center also has very good gift shop.

This is a huge park where to spend half a day or even an entire day. The parl is really huge, of rolling hills and trails, and is equally suitable for runners, bicyclists and picnickers as well as history buffs. I went moslty because I was interested in historical implications, but what a nice surprise discovering that so many people go there just for a run or a picnic on the grass with friends or family. The visitor center is offering all information needed to get to know historical facts, and just behind the corner you can rent a bicycle for little money and start your tour. As a matter of fact you can tour by your car, but bcycling for me was just nicer.

Since we live very close I have lost count of how many times we have been here. The visitor center and movie are great for a first visit, but the entire site is really best used as a park. Go fly a kite, or ride a bike, or just hike the trails.
