This lovely boutique hotel is located near the foot of Diamond Head away from the hussle and hassle of Waikiki proper but easily accessed if you want it. It is steps from one of the better beaches in the area, Kapiolani Park and the Diamond Head Tennis Courts. The rooms and bathrooms are large and spacious with a magnificent view of Diamond Head and the Park. A very friendly and helpful staff keeps everything clean and efficient. Complimentary wine every evening helps kick-off of your evening activites.

I understand that plans are in the works to upgrade the facilities even more and a restaurant is planned adjacent to the lobby in the near future. All this will make this hotel and even better place to stay in Honolulu. Privacy and peace when you want it, Waikiki nightlife when you need it. . .a great vacation combination.

Room Tip: Ask for a room above the 5th floor.

We went on a late honeymoon last December 2010 after getting married in May 2010. We loved the hotel. We were upgraded to a corner room facing partial ocean and Diamond Head views. super comfortable bed and nice patio to watch the sunrise over Diamond Head. We will stay there again. It was such a great hotel. Staff very very friendly and helpful. Recommend it to everyone.

Room Tip: corner room 325

Pros: It was outside of the traffic in Waikiki, but close enough to walk to restaurants in Waikiki. The hotel was steps away from Kaimana Beach and Kapiolani Park. The hotel was clean with a helpful, friendly staff. There was a wine happy hour and coffee/tea each day in the lobby. There were also free newspapers in the lobby.

Cons: There was no restaurant in the hotel. The convenience store next door was expensive with limited selection. There was no coffee pot in the room. Room had a musty smell when the doors were closed.

We stayed for two nights and enjoyed our stay. There was some confusion when we checked in with our reservation, but after about 10 minutes, it was straightened out. The valet/bellman was very friendly and showed us to our room right away.

The best part of the room were the views. We stayed in one of the upper floors on a corner room looking out at the beach in one direction and Diamond Head in the other direction.

The room was rated as a 4 star hotel, but it was more along the lines of a 3 or 3.5 star hotel.

Room Tip: Corner rooms (room #25) are the best rooms with two sliding doors and views of the ocean and diamond head.

Pros: The rooms are large, clean and bright, and the staff are very friendly. We had a nice view of Diamond Head, and we could still see a bit of the ocean. They offer complimentary wine between 3-5 in the lobby, which is a nice touch. Great shower and great bed.

Cons: 10 minute walk from the Waikiki strip or the beach. so it might be difficult for those with kids or difficulty walking. They nickel and dime you on the internet (they charge you twice to have two computers in the same room on the internet at once), and they have mandatory valet service if you park there. They literally park your car in front the front door to the hotel, and back it up for you when you want it. I suggest parking across the road. It's cheap and there are a tonne of parking spots.

Overall I was happy with my stay there.

I recently stayed at the Aqua Lotus, formerly a W Hotel, located on the Gold Coast of Waikiki. The hotel is located in a great location, very close to the Zoo and Kapahulu Avenue. It's a short walk to the International Market Place. Having stayed in other W Hotels, I hoped the Lotus would be trendy and chic. I was very impressed with the property. The public areas were very nice and the rooms were quite large and were decorated in a combination of tropical and Asian theme. I stayed in an upper floor premium ocean view room that had excellent views of the ocean and Diamond Head. The sunset could be enjoyed from the balcony. The bed was very comfortable and unlike other hotels in Waikiki, you were not awaken daily by the sounds of sirens, tour buses idling, or garbage trucks collecting trash. I enjoyed the complimentary wine hour in the lobby. Parking was Valet only. The Valets did an excellent job and were always ready to offer assistance. If you called down for your car, it was ready and waiting for you when you got to the lobby. The Valet, Bill was very courteous and friendly. He provided directions and offered suggestions of where to eat and always welcomed you back when you returned. The entire Lotus staff was very professional and welcoming. Their hospitality was definetly first rate. If you come to Oahu, you need to try the Lotus!

Room Tip: Corner ocean rooms have a two sliding doors with great views of the ocean and Diamond Head.
