“Expect A Waikiki Hotel”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

Staying in Waikiki for the first time we decided on Sheraton, having stayed in many around the world. Our expectations were tempered given it is Waikiki and on the main 'strip'. In general the hotel was no problem and would happily stay again.

Pros
- Very central and easy walking to quite a few good restaurants and shopping
- Great staff, very attentive and the front desk went out of their way, successfully, to assist on a very very early check-in after a 28 hour trip from Singapore
- Rooms are clean, functional and appear renovated, not large but nice enough
- Beach side rooms have a great view from the balcony
- Infinity pool has nice location and adult only

Cons
- Very touristy, this is not the place for a quiet 3-5 days relax around the pool, nowhere really to hide away for some quiet.
- F&B outlets ok, but not great.
- Both pools are busy and offer very little shade in the midday sun
- Some noise in the rooms (doors/walls might be a little thin)
- Breakfast buffet a little average - eat out near by in the many available options is our suggestion
- no mini bar

All in all as expected, a fair 5 star hotel - 'Waikiki' style. A great place for a couple of days before heading off to one of the other quieter islands. No problem recommending and going back.

Room Tip: Definitely get a beach/sea view room, well away from the lifts on a higher floor.

We stayed in this hotel from 20th to 26th March 2013. Location was great, right on the beach and it has all the amenities, spa, restaurants, shops... you wouldn't have to leave the resort if you didn't want to. Its a very big hotel, and we had two rooms booked, they were booked separately so when we arrived we were not on the same floor / part of the building but when I asked if the rooms could be in the same building, they quite happily moved me. They also upgraded my brother, wife and two children to a larger corner room. My room was billed as city view (6th floor - room 674 I think!!) and didn't have a balcony but you could see the sea and the surfers who were out from dawn to dusk. Rooms are very spacious and spotless. Two pools, one an infinity pool for adults and another for families and the hotel was right on the beach. Hotel is located in a nice area and very accessible to everything. The hotel has a travel desk which can arrange tours, airport shuttles etc. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. A tip before you go if you are not a Sheraton/Starwood member its worth signing up before you go, its free and you get a Starwood Preferred Members band which gives you all sorts of perks like being able to skip the que for seating at breakfast, which sometimes in hotels can take a while depending on what time you go down! The food is great. You also get an evening in the Club Lounge, which has fabulous sea views left and right with free drinks and nibbles, very enjoyable. There is a resort fee (as with most hotels in Waikiki) but I actually found it quite reasonable as among other things it including international calls up to one hour each day. Hotel has free wifi in the rooms and computers/printers for guest use in the lobby. I would definitely go back to this hotel. Check out all the various websites for the best deal, its not always through the hotel website, I got a brilliant deal through the American Airlines Website-saved hundreds of euros.

The Sheraton Waikiki allegedly underwent a recent renovation. The strategy of the renovation was apparently to make the guests feel as unwelcome as possible by eliminating furniture from the rooms! We are Platinum members. The first room we were shown had no furniture whatsoever except for beds -- it was very roomy! The second room had a stool that slipped under a small table. No chairs, no desk, no drawers. Stunning. The bell staff was actually chuckling as they moved us around about how the management had blown the renovation. We decided to make do by hauling in the deck chair from the small patio.

In addition, our room was cleaned only once during our stay.

The public spaces in the Sheration are indeed gorgeous. It's a shame the rooms are such a dump.

We would not stay here again, especially when there are so many choices in Waikiki that must be better, or at least provide furniture.

By the way, we tried to let Starwood know about their problems in Waikiki, but e-mails to Starwood went into a black hole, without response. Starwod does not provide for any other venue to complain. Thank goodness for Trip Advisor.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.

Aloha and mahalo for your valuable feedback. We apologize for the delayed response and the inconveniences you encountered during your stay. We appreciate your loyalty as a Platinum member and your feedback is important to us. Our guest rooms were updated prior to our common areas and the local design firm and our owners went for a more simple and modern floorplan for our rooms. We have shared your comments with the management team for the next update to our guest rooms. Thank you again for your feedback.

This hotel has the nicest team members, and they really care about their guests. The club provides food that exceeds all expectations, and has a view "TO DIE FOR"

They take really good care of Platinum Members and the in room dining is just the best!

An amazing location, and very nice rooms.

Room Tip: If you are planning to book a suite, then try the 36 stack. Amazing views and it is always possible...

We were extremely disappointed in our recent stay at the Sheraton Waikiki. It was not at all what we expected from this brand-name hotel. We were on a short break and decided to treat ourselves by staying at a good hotel. Not to be. Apparently, the Sheraton has recently undergone a multi-million dollar refurbishment. Well I’m not sure that applies to the rooms. It might only apply to the new Infinity Pool and eateries. Or perhaps the leaning corner lampstand is a new decorating trend?
Why we won’t be recommending:
- Dysfunctional bathroom with leaking toilet and shower
- Not much is complimentary – tea and coffee for one day, then you pay
- No crockery or cutlery – you will drink your coffee in a takeaway cup
- Check-in staff more interested in signing you up to a hotel loyalty program
- Resort fee

Room Tip: Anything on west side will get you both air conditioner unit noise and vehicle noise from the bus ba...

Thank you Sheraton Waikiki for a fabulous vacation. My sister, my 85 year young mother and I stayed for 10 days in April. It was my mother's trip of a lifetime. Sheraton were kind enough to upgrade us to the 28th floor with an amazing view. Thanks also for the complementary evening in the 30th floor lounge! Although it was very crowded at the pool it all adds to the experience. We loved every minute :)

Room Tip: Ocean front would be wonderful if you can afford it
