The hotel is a classic. The common areas of the old hotel space are graceful, charming, and relaxing. The tower is like any other modern hotel. The rooms are nice, updated, and clean. The bathroom is good sized and includes the closet. Room has a safe. The bed is wonderful, great night's sleep every night. The bed lives up to the hype. We ate at the restaurant for breakfast a couple of times. The food is good but very expensive. Right on Waikiki beach, can't beat that for convenience. Just a block or so from the mall with tons of eating and shopping options. The only drawback is parking is valet only and it takes a while for the car to come around. On the website I read about an option for self park at the Sheraton across the street, but didn't look into when I got there.

We ended our trip to the islands on Oahu and decided to try the Moana Surfrider -excellent choice. We stayed in the older section of the hotel reliving its 1901 origins, and while a little cramped for bathroom size and closet space, we do not spend much time in our room anyway. What we loved was escaping the shopping madness of Waikiki, and the crowded beach, to the quiet elegance of the Westin. Good food and service add to the experience, and our particular favorites were breakfast on the porch with the BEST eggs Benedict with salmon I have had since Brennan's in New Orleans. Another morning I had their supermelafagorgeous Crispy Waffles with Coconut and Toasted Macadamia Nuts. Try a Planter's Punch and pupu's at the Beach Cafe under the ancient banyan tree to the tunes of Hawaiian music with a wonderful hula dancer too. All of these special additions make a stay at the Moana Surfrider a lifelong memory.

Aloha,
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. At the Moana, we take great pride in preserving the timeless beauty and charm of the “First Lady of Waikiki,” so it is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed reliving her origins with a stay in the historic Banyan Wing. It is also great to hear that your dining experiences for breakfast at the veranda and pupus at the Beach Bar were enjoyable. The Hawaiian entertainment, iconic Banyan Tree, and picturesque backdrop of Waikiki Beach make the Banyan Courtyard such a special place to be in Hawaii. We are glad that your time spent with us created lifelong Moana Memories to fondly remember. On your next visit, we recommend dining at our signature restaurant, beachhouse at the moana, which features the finest quality steaks and fresh seafood in an elegant oceanfront setting – the perfect way to celebrate a special stay in paradise. We look forward to your next arrival to the Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa.
Mahalo!

Loved the Moana Surfrider, stayed in the newer wing, overlooking the ocean and it was unbelievable. The beautiful picture perfect entrance & foyer, nice pool, great service and proximity to everything makes it worth every penny. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Only bad part is how crowded the beach is (but downtown Waikiki is crazy....so be prepared for that). Loved the paddle board lessons, right at the hotel, and also the outrigger canoes. The spa was a little pricey, but that is to be expected in this type of hotel. Still had a great facial and the service was impeccable.

Aloha,
It is wonderful to hear that you thoroughly enjoyed your last stay at the Moana and would return for another relaxing stay. The Moana’s unique historic architecture and old-world charm is a welcome retreat to the bustling pace of Waikiki – our guests love to lounge in rocking chairs on the veranda or stake a spot on beautiful Waikiki Beach just steps out of the Moana’s lobby. We are glad that you were pleased with your experience at the Moana Lani Spa, A Heavenly Spa by Westin, and felt rejuvenated and renewed after your service. On your return, refreshing mai tais and ono (delicious) appetizers, as well as exhilarating sunset views, await you at the Beach Bar under the iconic Banyan Tree. We appreciate your review and look forward to your next stay at the Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa.

Great hotel, great location, great staff. We had a short stay at Moana Surfrider, three nights before going on to Kauai. What a fabulous stay. We loved the beds, of course! There is nothing like a heavenly bed! We experienced the spa, in my opinion it was a bit overpriced and the spa receptionist working did not offer great customer service making us wait for ten minutes while she booked a client on the phone. However, the massages were amazing. I am just using my critical eye because I believe guests standing in front of you should be serviced and not left to wait. It is acceptable to ask a guest on the phone if they mind being placed on hold. You lose the opportunity to wow a guest standing in front of you by making them wait ten minutes to check out, a 30-60 second process. All in all we loved this hotel and our hotel experience. I suggest spending the little extra money to have beach club access. It was great sitting on the veranda there, the food was great and the staff over the top excellent. Well worth the extra charge!

Aloha,
Mahalo for sharing your experience. We are delighted to have exceeded your expectations on your recent stay at the Moana. We definitely agree that there is nothing like restorative sleep in a Heavenly Bed – it is just that, heavenly! Westin Heavenly Beds are also available for purchase through the Westin Hotels at Home website so you can sleep well every night in the comfort of your own home. It is disappointing to hear that the customer service you received at the spa reception desk was less than perfect, but we are glad that the massage left you feeling rejuvenated and well. We hope to welcome you back to the Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa on your next visit to Honolulu.
Thank you!

I usually stay in the original wing of the Surfrider, but this time comfort trumped quaint. The check in was a breeze, the negotiation for an upgrade was even easier and the room was well appointed and comfortably large. There is a resort fee but if you have a car and any electronic devices the fee covers wifi and parking. The restaurants are pricey but you get what you pay for, the food is excellent and service top notch. All in all this is the third time I stayed here and I see no reason I won't be coming back.

Room Tip: If you want a spot at the pool you have to go early.

Aloha,
Thank you for your review. We appreciate your loyalty to the “First Lady of Waikiki” and love welcoming our guests back to the Moana time and time again. It is wonderful to know that you enjoy many aspects of the Moana, including guestrooms in the original historic Banyan Wing as well as the modern amenities of guestrooms in the Diamond or Tower Wings. We are also glad that you were pleased with your dining experiences at the restaurants within the resort. When you return for your fourth stay, we highly recommend a visit to the Moana Lani Spa for a restorative spa treatment. A traditional Hawaiian lomi lomi massage or facial at Waikiki’s only oceanfront spa is surely the perfect way to rejuvenate during your stay in paradise. We await your return to the Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa.
