The hotel has done a great job with cleaning up the place and also improving on its customer service. It is conveniently located to the shopping centers and has ample parking. One advise is to start including services for the elderly and others who are not able to move their luggages around easily. Friendliest staff was the nigh shift guy (forgot his name) and Alice at the front desk :)

Room Tip: Do not slam your doors!

It was better than expected. The ad in their website describe well the place.
We were looking for something affordable, clean and comfortable enough, we got all of it!
It was the closest hotel to Kapiolani Hospital, which was the reason of our trip.
Thanks for the friendly and helpful staff !
Aloha!
Ana

the earlier reviews were pretty accurate. It is an older hotel, BIG room with 2 queen beds, flat screen, hair dryer, iron, another sink in the bedroom so we could both get ready. We were on the 5th floor, above the Pagoda Restaurant. The trash trucks came every morning at 6:30 a.m. and the window air conditioner were distracting. But if you are not going to spend time in your room this is a great place. The parking was across the street and $10. the restaurant was delightful. There is a pool. The walk to Ala Mona Shopping Center is about 15 minutes straight down the road so you can't get lost. The walk to the surf lesson on the beach at Waikiki is 25 minutes down the street. The trolly and bus stop is at the shopping center. We were satisfied.
The hotel guests varied from locals, to families, to older, one younger with the black clothes and piercings, to young couples.

Room Tip: The higher up you are the quieter it will be. The elevators work.

Mahalo nui loa for posting a review! We love to hear that we contributed to your vacation experience. I'm thrilled how you used the phrase, "BIG room" to describe our clean and comforable room. Our location, location, location is the best! Literally minutes from white sandy beaches, surrounding shops and restaurants. Thank you again for taking the time to complete the review. From our Pagoda family to yours....Aloha!

You get what you pay for. This is an older hotel that is convenient, clean with a friendly staff that is not in the middle of Waikiki and makes Hawaii affordable. If you want Waikiki you'll pay for it, dearly. If you don't plan to stay in Waikiki this is a great central location to home base. There is Ala Moana Shopping Center, Ala Moana Beach Park, Walmart, Ross, Starbucks and MANY restaurants within walking distance. There is ample parking available, additional cost, or at night you can many times find free on street parking. If you want to bus it Ala Moana Shopping Center is a hub for many of the bus routes. The kitchenette rooms can make your visit even more affordable. Although, I prefer to take advantage of all the different local foods available! You might want to bring eye covers though as the sun is bright early and the curtains don't block much. For me it just motivated me to get up early and make the most of my day. My ratings are price/value based.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the mountain will tend to be cooler.

Convenient, ROSS, Wal-Mart, Ala-Moana Shopping Center nearby and many other great shops. As long as you have a bed, privacy (using the bathroom), your fridge, TV, air-con, you should be well off. The hotel said you may stay here, but, not live here. Thank-you for all the HARDWORK you do; It's hard, then to have critics, the worse-ugly ones, makes you only want to quit or work harder, don't quit, just ignore...lol. I may be a few who rates your hotel well, but, there is a lot of us out there who appreciates all that you do. Highly recommended your hotel to everyone.
Aloha, AM.

Room Tip: Request ground floor, easy access, instead of elevators......if taking a lot of baggage.

My boyfriend and I booked a room at the Pagoda through bookit and other than the extremely friendly staff were quite disappointed. Flat out it is just very old. The halls are dingy and smell of old folks home. Our towels had stains and so did the bottom mattresses. There was cockroach poop on the table in our room. It is incredibly noisy as the windows don't close all the way and the bed feels like a table top so don't expect any restful sleep. We had requested a queen bed but were given a room with doubles so we had to squish quite uncomfortably on a tiny bed. They were not able to accommodate us except for switching to an only smoking floor which was not an option as I am allergic to cigarette smoke. The shower temperature never stayed consistent and sometimes only half the water came out of the shower head, so you were partially taking a bath as well. Parking is across the street at the Ross for only $10 a day but you can only park starting on level 4. This would be reasonable if the elevator worked but it did not, so we had to walk up and down 4 to 6 flights of stairs multiple times a day. We called and complained to bookit and bookit called on our behalf and our parking fees were refunded. All in all, you get what you pay for. Spend the extra money and go some place nicer.

Aloha!
Thank you so much for taking the time to give us feed-back. Your feedback is very important and will be mentioned in our next Manager's meeting. We truly appreciate all comments as it only helps us to get better. We are in the process of updating rooms in the main tower, with new carpet, drapes, paint, etc. and the project should be completed in the near future. I apologize that your room did not meet your standards on this visit. However, our location is great – shopping and dining are just steps away.
Please know that the entire team at the Pagoda Hotel is committed to taking the necessary steps to ensure that this experience is not repeated.

Should future travel bring you back to Hawaii, we hope that you will give us another chance.

Stayed at the Pagoda as a non-Waikiki alternative, and it's definitely cheaper. The room was bearable. My standards aren't that high. However, my laptop case was stolen in the front lobby right in front of me-by another guest! It was caught on camera. We called police, who were great, but the management more or less ignored the problem, despite the fact that it was a registered guest who stole. No security in lobby, nor any ID checks of registered guests. This guest was registered under a false name by the front desk. Staff didn't seem very surprised that this had happened, and I wonder if it's fairly normal at this hotel. The management promised that their insurance would take care of the losses but they haven't actually done anything in this regard, nor have they returned my request for contact. Next time I'll pay the extra few dollars and stay somewhere a bit more secure.
