“lovely hotel, great spot on the beach”
Reviewed March 13, 2013

great location, on the end of the main waikiki beach which made the beach a bit quieter and more just for hotel guests.
room was great, spotless and fairly roomy. overlooked straight into another hotel but when peering out from the balcony if you looked left we looked straight to the beach, looking right up into the city.
both restaurants at hotel were great, bar staff awesome at the hotel bar, especially Teddy, who gave us some inside knowledge of the island when we were going to hire a car and drive around, so saw some sights we wouldnt have known about otherwise!
bad side - didnt realise until it was too late that the 'info desks' were all wyndham resort staff. we booked a tour through them, they were very pushy and me being naive didnt realise until after we had booked it that there were probably other better options available, from 3rd party info places. were also conned into booking a time share lecture, which we didnt go to in the end as didnt want to waste 2 hrs of our holiday! a lot of waikiki is wyndham so everywhere you go they try to get you to book into the time share talk (for $100 off a tour-not that valuable). so beware!
other wise hotel was great.

We spent 9 nights Feb/Mar in a partial ocean view room on the 11th floor of the Pacific Tower. I really loved how friendly all the staff were. It was like they remembered you making it feel like a small hotel. The pool although not on the beach felt like a private retreat from the hustle of Waikiki, the whole hotel felt more private as there were not people using it as a shortcut except after Friday night fireworks. We did visit other hotels and found they were very busy plus some were more geared for Japanese visitors only.
Housekeeping was excellent, they were very thorough and even greeted guests returning to their rooms. The room was a good size we could see the ocean from our lanai and the lounge in the room, this also overlooked the pool so we could enjoy the entertainment with a few drinks in our room. The music stopped before 10 so it never kept us awake.
We ate mostly at the Shorebird, the breakfast servers were some of the friendliest people in Hawaii. Remember to check you receipts for buy 1 get 50% 2nd.
We were able to get an early check in and the front desk arranged our vow renewals at the Outrigger on the Beach as it fell on our anniversary. The bell boys arranged shuttles and were very helpfull working out the best pickup points and transport.
As others have mentioned we nearly were caught out by Wyndham timeshare, I just thought the person at the activity desk was being friendly- then saw the badge.
After looking at our other choices we would definately stay here again.

Room Tip: Make reservations in advance for Friday nights as the Shorebird fills quickly after the fireworks

We had a wonderful time at the Outrigger Reef on the Beach - the first six nights of a 12 night Hawaiian stay. The staff are very attentive, the room was lovely with a fantastic view of the beach from the lanai even though we only bookd a partial view, the ocean house restaurant was amazing for breakfast and shorebird was great for lunch and the happy hour (12-5pm)- the bar staff are great fun to watch. I have never seen cocktails mixed so fast. The location was great too, near plenty of dining without the crowds of Waikiki proper. The only complaint we had was the Wyndham vacation staff that hassled us whenever we came anywhere near the activities desk. So much for "no pressure sale tactics"!

This hotel is a real gem, the location on Waikiki can not be beat, being on the end of the Waikiki keeps the beach free of none hotel guests and makes it feel private. We had no problem finding loungers by the pool and enjoyed the pool restaurant service immensely the prices were great and the portions were very large. Even though we had a super low priceline rate for this hotel, we were given an upgrade to a beautiful king size city view room that looked out on the Trump and Fort Derussy. The service was exceptional our entire stay and I really appreciated that the hotel offered a courtesy room after check-out and luggage storage this allowed us to have a total stress free last day.

We stayed at this hotel for seven nights in a one bedroom ocean view suite with our two year old son. The room was beautifully furnished, the view amazing and staff plentiful and friendly. We can only reiterate what others have said about the quality of service, food and presentation of rooms. We will be staying again for sure.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are much cheaper that ocean front rooms and the view is excellent.

We just got back from 14 days at this hotel. This was our fourth stay in five years. We can't say enough about the quality of service from everyone - front desk, room staff, bell desk, restaurants etc. This is a first class operation that cares about their guests - that's why we keep returning. The rooms are spotless and it does feel like a home away from home. The only drawback are the aggressive sales people from the Wyndham - totally annoying, but they trying to do the best job they can. It is a bit on the pricey side, but keep looking for deals on their site, use the AMA discount and respectfully ask the front desk staff for better room locations. There may be better pricing out there, but you truly get what you pay for.

Beautiful Hotel and friendly helpful staff, well friendly is really not even enough to cover it, they were all extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was perfect, the size was nice, bathroom was excellent and we had what is called a partial ocean view, it really is more than that, it was a nice view of the ocean to the right and a great view of the pool below. The beach is really just out the back door. Great food with 3 nice restaurants in the hotel and the location is centered for shopping and other restaurants. Just walk down the beach either direction or step out the front of the hotel. We would stay here again and again... the only bad thing that I could say about this hotel is the "time-share" folks in the lobby areas they will drive you nuts, best advise is to just ignore them..

Room Tip: Partial Ocean view room are very nice
