Old. Worn out. Dark. No amenities (shampoo, lotion, qtips). 2nd floor is easily accessible to non guests. Pool is small and old. Beds are average at best. The bedding was scary old.

The only good thing is the rooms are built well so it's really quiet once that door is shut.

I won't stay here again. Ever.

I'd recommend the Marriott Waikiki for the same price and its just across from the beach.

Room Tip: Do not stay on the second floor.

We had booked a condo for 3 nights in Waikiki, but after arriving had to leave because it was a dump. I quickly looked for replacement accomodation & turned to trip advisor. Based on reviews of this hotel, I came to the hotel asking to see the rooms before we committed. The front desk was accomodating. We ended up in a suite (which was MASSIVE) on the 2nd floor near the stairs to the pool, so no beach view. The room was most clean, tidy and did not even have that hotel "smell". The pool area is lovely and the best part was that the poolside food & drinks weren't outrageously expensive. Fun music in the evenings, which was done by 830pm, as to not disturb guests. We did have one meal at the Ocean House restaurant - pricey, OK food, but awesome views. This hotel is located in a great location and so nice to have a Starbucks in it! This hotel was totally renovated 3 years ago and it looks great!

Room Tip: Suites were spacious on the 2nd floor - get corner unit.

My husband and I have just returned from an incredible eight days at the Outrigger Reef. The hotel has recently undergone multimillion dollar renovations and it shows! The hotel has an amazing location beachfront at Waikiki which in itself makes it a winner, but what really stands it apart is the service. From the porters at the driveway through to the lovely ladies who service your room everyone is friendly and helpful.
We had booked an Oceanfront room but on arrival we enquired as to the availability of a suite. There would be one available in five days for an additional fee. Opting to splurge for a few nights we checked into our Oceanfront room (619) until the suite became available.
Room 619 was beautiful, immaculate and freshly redecorated and had everything you could ask for. The view was stunning and the patio included two chairs and a small table (the perfect place to sit with a cold drink and watch the sunset).Decorated in a subtle and tasteful Hawaiian theme it was one of the more spacious hotel rooms I have stayed in.
The room had a small desk and two chairs plus a small chaise style lounge, plenty of options to sit and relax! The bed was a wonderfully comfortable king size bed with lots and lots of pillows. There was a large flat screen TV at the foot of the bed on a beautiful carved timber unit which came complete with in-room safe.
The bathroom had a separate vanity area that came with coffee maker and Kona coffee plus a bar fridge (thank goodness with no mini bar). Outriggers own branded toiletries were supplied. The bathroom itself was well appointed with a low step-in bath with shower overhead.
The room was air-conditioned and the system works automatically so that if you open the patio door the aircon turns off until the doors are closed again. During the day it was lovely to have the door open and enjoy the ocean breeze however at night it was quieter to have the door closed. Surprisingly though we were never disturbed late at night by people on the beach despite there being two restaurants located beachfront downstairs.
Oceanfront Suite 916. What can I say except stunning!! From the double timber doors that greet you with a lovely entrance foyer to the tastefully decorated lounge / dining area this suite is a winner. There are only four of these suites available at the hotel so if you are interested in staying here make sure to plan ahead. There are two bathrooms (the master bathroom is incredible), three verandas (one facing directly onto Diamond Head, a corner balcony gives you Diamond Head and oceanfront Waikiki Beach and the third off the lounge area faces directly onto the beach).
The dining area has a bar area with sink and mini bar fridge (very handy for filling up with cold drinks from the ABC store in Beach Walk). There are also two televisions, one located in the lounge area and the other in the bedroom. It is expensive to stay in a suite but if you are wanting an extra special treat then don’t hesitate to book one of these.
The hotel has a wonderful atmosphere and people watching in the lobby is a fun way to spend some time. There is a large pool deck with ample supply of deck chairs. Next to the spa there is a pool attendant who will supply towels and there is always ice cold lemonade free to quench your thirst.
Next to the pool is the Kani Ka Pila Grille which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner featuring live Hawaiian entertainment every night. The food is great and reasonably priced and it is lovely of an evening to sit poolside and listen to the Hawaiian music.
Breakfast was particularly enjoyable at The Shorebird Restaurant & Beach Bar. Reasonably priced and offering a large selection it was fantastic to sit and eat breakfast overlooking Waikiki Beach. On paying your bill your receipt entitles you to 50% of your second entree at breakfast, lunch or dinner. This meant that on your second visit two of you can have the buffet breakfast for approximately $21 USD. Bargain!
There is also a more upmarket restaurant called the Ocean House which also faces beachfront but the menu is a more expensive then the Shorebird.
Another great place to call in is Starbucks located street side at the entrance to the hotel. Very popular with guests and locals alike it was great to be able to call in for a Frappuccino or a coffee and cake from early morning until late in the evening.
There is so much I can say about The Outrigger Reef on the Beach but space prevents me from doing so.
All I can say is if you want a slice of paradise in Waikiki where the view is almost surpassed by the friendliness then make sure you stay here.

Room Tip: Splurge and select and Oceanfront, it is well worth the extra!

Let me start by saying that all the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. Let me also say that my room had a great view of the ocean on the 9th floor and had everything one would need, although it was a little worn and rough around the edges for the price. The thing that I feel is amiss from this hotel is heart. It's just another big, soulless hotel on the crowded strip that is Waikiki. For the price Ill be staying next time at The Royal Hawaiian which has a genuine personality and staff that remember your preferences. Oh and the buffet breakfast? Great view but poor quality. Go elsewhere.

Room Tip: The views are worth it although don't expect a flash room.

We stayed here for 7 nights in Oct and it was a fantastic hotel. Great service, lovely people, very convenient and excellent facilities.

The rooms were clean and what you saw in the pictures advertised.

So convenient... only a couple of minutes from the main street where there is shopping, great places to eat and lots of things to see day or night.

We went with our 2 little boys age 5 and 3 and it was a great place for families, safe and steps away from your own private beach.

Will definitely stay here again.
