“Great Hotel for Price”

The staff are very friendly, beach towels always available at the front desk, 5 min walk to the beach and buses. Great hotel for price.

There is much about Ohana East to like and a few extra services that make it a good value:
- 15 minutes of free long distance calls to US or Canada each day
- free local calls
- free beach towels
- free in-room safe
- use of a shower room after check-out to freshen up before late night flights
- free Wi-Fi in the lobby
- use of Pink Line trolley for free means no bus fare to Ala Moana Centre
- bell desk can get a good deal on airport shuttle ($10/person one way)

Other goods things worth mentioning:
- location, only a block and half from the beach
- room was spotless and maid service very good
- a reasonably priced laundromat in the hotel
- breakfast special at place in the hotel was the best deal in Waikiki ($4 for pancakes, bacon, eggs)
- local bus stop right across the street
- really helpful staff

What could have been better:
- the key cards are terribly prone to losing their coding. I had read about this and thought 'how bad can it be?' The answer: we used 6 cards in a 3 day span and you need your card to use the elevator. At the end of the day, it is frustrating to get in the elevator and not be able to make it work because the card is not working.
- only ice machine is off the lobby
- bathrooms only have a shower
- only plastic and styrofoam cups and glasses in bathroom

Overall, a really good stay for the money. Would heartily recommend it.

This hotel was centrally located which was great because close to the beach. However, we were directly above the town square and there were drunks yelling all night long. Really made it impossible to sleep. The room was nothing special and the front desk folks seemed more interested in answering the phone than answering our questions.

Great hotel, great value. This is a no frills hotel with clean rooms located in the center of the city not far from the beach. The rooms themselves are nothing spectacular -- no frills. But we were there to enjoy Hawaii, not the room. And this hotel is a wonderful way to enjoy Hawaii without overspending. The rooms were clean and we checked in and out quickly, easily and without any problems. A great spot to stay -- spend your money on the local tours and sights -- not on the inside of a hotel room!

I stayed at Ohana East for 4 nights in March and for what you pay for I thought it was very good value. I was never planning on spending a huge amount of my short time in Hawaii in the hotel so I wanted somewhere reasonably cheap, clean and in a convenient location and it definitely ticked all of those boxes. We had a room on the 17th floor with a good view from the small balcony. The room was big and spacious and very clean. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included in the deal I got but it was a $5 voucher to spend each day in the small cafe on a croissant/pastry and a tea/coffee or juice. Not exactly a buffet breakfast but enough to start you off and there was an ABC store across the street and a subway and a few other fast food places nearby. It was a 3 min walk to the beach so in a perfect location.

This is a great location and hotel for the price. There is easy beach access. Mostly shade around the hotel pool however due to high rises on all sides. Ice machine only on 1st floor. Walls don't provide any soundproofing -- we could hear regular conversations in the next room. But it's unbeatable for price and would definitely stay there again. Very nice staff.

My wife and I had a very long day of travel and we were very tired when we arrived at the hotel. The lady working the front desk was very friendly and advised us that we were receiving a free upgrade to a suite, and even gave us a gift for each of our kids back home. It's things like this that we'll remember. Too bad we were really there only for a good nights sleep before checking into our condo the next morning, as we didn't have time to take advantage of the upgrade or the many onsite amnenities. Terrific location too, close to the beach, groceries, restaurants etc... We would gladly recommend Ohana East to friends and family. Mahalo!!
