The room was adequate, clean and comfortable. Decor is getting a bit tired but for the cost we were quite happy. Staff and service was good. Quite close to all the shops and restaurants. Buses past the door every few minutes. You could easily find nicer places to stay but you will pay more.

Room Tip: We were on the 6th floor,no problem with noise.

Stayed for 4 nights and ended up with a bad taste for a few reasons

They lost the note on our room my wife left saying to let me in, then found it 40 mins later, wasting my time. The response was very "we can't let you in", rather than "sorry we can't let you in, would you like to leave your things with the bell boy or use he courtesy room". Had to really demand everything.

Shower was rarely hot. We let the staff know but unfortunately when they checked it was behaving. No offer to change room, no proactive checkup later.

Positive: Room was spacious, location is in the middle of things in Waikiki (not on the beach) so fairly convenient but also a bit noisy.

In short, there are better places to stay, and in particular nicer, more helpful staff.

I agree that the hotel's decore is dated with old furniture, walls are thin and can be noisy at night. We stayed for 3 weeks and grateful that the people around us were not too noisy most of the nights. For tea and hot water drinkers, no kettle in the room only filtered coffee machine so request it from the reception. However the kettle that I got did not have on/off button so beware not to boil your water dry.

We had friendly and helpful staff all along, we saw some guests had a lot of trouble with the lifts (mainly did not listen to the receptionist during check-in about how to get to their floors) and doors.

Also utilised their hospitality room as we couldn't get a late check-out and leaving at night time so we got to freshen up. Checked luggage and taxi were waiting for us at the agreed time with luggage loaded for us already. No complains there.

Room Tip: Higher floors were the recommendation but doesn't make much difference in the end.

This was our second trip this year to Waikiki and last time we stayed at 'waikiki shore' right on the water which was fantastic but pretty expensive. This trip we decided to stay somewhere cheaper and was very happy with this choice. We've been to Ohana West which is much bigger and harder / slower to get in and out of. Staff were great, room was very well maintained and had a small belcony with partial ocean view.

Coin laundry is close to the building too.

Room Tip: Ask for a room 15 and above, theres an express elevator.

This is the noisiest hotel I've ever stayed at.

You hear buses and motorcycles almost every minute of every hour.

Loud parties that kept us up all night - no one cared.

It's like the Twilight Zone - seriously

Avoid this hotel for your sanity.

We booked a tour to visit Hawaii, and did not specifically select this hotel ourselves. As many have commented, the location is superb - close to beach and tons of restaurants, shopping areas, etc. Inside the decor is very dated, rooms have not been updated - old tube TV's, bed as hard as a rock, no duvets. When we checked in we were given a room (1101) that was one away from the elevator, but the noise of the cables in the room was just deafening. The room only had one queen bed (we had expected a king, and was very small. The bathroom was dark and scary. We complained, and thankfully were moved to another room (1404) - although this also had a queen, the room was bigger, and the bathroom was at least partially reno;d with new tile floor and granite countertop. It was clean, but that is the best we can say.

Room Tip: The higher you go, the better chance of a peak a boo view of the ocean from your balcony - could not...

This was our third time to the U.S. but only 1st time to Hawaii so we didn't quite know what to expect. The location of the Ohana East is second to none. It is right in the centre of waikiki, 2 minute walk to the beach, surrounded by shopping and restaurants. Found a lot of fantastic places to eat. Dukes in the outrigger on the beach is a MUST... Gets pretty busy though. the hotel itself it pretty basic but has everything you need and is clean. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. We booked all our day tours through the hotel with POLYNESIAN adventure tours and their service was fabulous. Spent nearly every night walking through the International Market place which is just around the corner. fabulous atmosphere/bargains/food. If you are wanting an incredible priced hotel right in the middle of Waikiki without all the luxuries then his place is a must, if you want to pay twice and sometimes three to four times as much then book in elsewhere. Also anyone visiting Waikiki Looking for a fabulous LIMO service I highly recommend ABC LIMO .... Mr Melvin Kim...he was recommended highly to us. We had a stretch limo waiting for usat the airport with lai's and then booked him or a 6 hour tour around the island, FANTASTIC is an understatement, he is one of the nicest people you could meet, and no request was too much trouble for him, he took photos for us at every stop fo us. So please if you are looking for fabulous luxurious transport at incredible prices to and around Waikiki you MUST give them a all.
