bg: i used my hyatt gold passport points for the stay and i'm a hyatt diamond member.

i really enjoyed my stay at hyatt place waikiki. for those looking for point redemption opportunities - hyatt place waikiki is a great value. for 12,000 a night you get a spacious suite that is roomy, comfortable, and relaxing. if you're paying with cash, the rooms are about $150-$200 per night. given how large the rooms are and the complimentary breakfast and wifi, i think it is a great value.

the staff was friendly and welcoming - i was requesting things left and right - parking fee questions, more towels, more shampoo/conditioner, later check out, etc. and the staff (Cole and Jarren) were patient and addressed my requests.

the location is great - only a block away from waikiki beach and right in the midst of all the food, shopping, and bars. i stayed in the mountain view room. i was a little disappointed at first that i wasn't going to be staying in an ocean view room; however, the mountain view room is quite beautiful, especially at night. the lights from the surrounding residences and hotels make it a special site. i got a peek of the ocean view room and can say the view from those rooms are amazing - especially at the hyatt place waikiki price point!

the breakfast was your usual continental breakfast fare of breakfast meat (sausage, bacon, etc.), eggs, and pancakes/french toast/waffles, non-alcoholic drinks, carbs, cereal, yogurt, and fruit. it was nice to not have to think about preparing breakfast during my vacation.

parking is steep with valet at $30/night and self-parking at $25/night. i think it's on par with other hyatt properties and hotels in general but it still hurts everytime.

i'd definitely recommend hyatt place waikiki to anyone visiting honolulu!

Loved the hotel especially for the staff which was superb especially Lynn at the front desk who gave great dining recommendations. Room was large, spotless with a wrap around balcony. Staff even gave great tips on the breakfast. Towels without hassle for the beach, how can they do that and about two short blocks from the best beach in Waikiki. The staff was great from the valet to the chambermaid to the maintenance staff.

Room tip: North side tower because of the location I do not think that any room has an unobstructed view of the ocean or Diamondhead.

We felt very fortunate to find this hotel. Although we only stayed for 1.5 days prior to leaving Hawaii, that stay was very pleasant. The staff were both very friendly and helpful and made us feel quite welcome. The room was clean and very spacious and the rate was reasonable for such a nice hotel in Waikiki ($219/night including all taxes and fees). The decor is contemporary which we prefer. The room had 2 beds, 1 queen, 1 king as well as a dresser, desk, and couch with ottoman. The only drawback was that the sink was located in the sleeping area as opposed to the bathroom which housed only the toilet and tub/shower. There was a good-sized in-room safe as well. The location is at the east end of Waikiki as opposed to being centrally located. However, this was no problem as buses and the trolley stop virtually at the hotel door and can get you anywhere you want to go. Also, the hotel is a less than a 5-minute walk to the zoo, the beach, and a large, beautiful seaside park. The portion of Waikiki beach nearest the hotel has a protected area that would be great for children who might not be able to handle the surf, although that is available as well. Watching the surfers and body boarders was great fun. This is definitely a place we'd return to.

The price point was spot on and very reasonable in comparison to other hotels of the same likeliness. The décor was modern, clean line and yet very comfortable. The hallways were clean, open, lighted and smelled of clean linens. The room was perfect size for two people, carpet was clean and soft under your feet, no dust balls under the bed or on the side of the nightstand(my glasses fell on the floor) so I noticed, color choice in the room and the décor is beautiful and comfortable. After returning from a day at the beach, in the sun or shopping you want a nice cooled AC room and comfortable chairs to sit on and this had it. Would definitely return again and again.
