My wife and I (plus our 21 month old) stayed here for 14 nights around Thanksgiving. We decided to stay here as we had stayed here 2 years ago. The hotel was reasonably priced and included the free skillet breakfast. We have also stayed in the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa several times, the Hyatt Place is not as luxurious, but is adequate. The staff are accommodating and try to correct any problems quickly. Housekeeping staff were lovely and interacted with our son. The only complaint about this hotel is that the glass sliding doors to the balcony to not close well; during our stay there were strong trade winds and this meant that there was lots of wind noise (kept me awake several nights). We had a large room on the 14th floor (top) with a separate setting room with TV, the bathroom contained a bathtub (great for our son) and the view from the balcony showed the mountains and also the ocean. This hotel is not located on the water front, but is only a 2 minute walk to the beach; however the hotel is not on the main dinning area of Waikiki, but is only a 10-15 minute walk.
Overall this hotel is pleasant.

Troymf- Mahalo for choosing to stay with us over the Thanksgiving holiday period. We also appreciate your continued loyalty to our hotel. It surprises us to learn about the sliding glass door to your lanai, and we will be sure to address your comments internally. We hope that you had a chance to notify one of our team members about the wind noise, so a resolution could be offered. On behalf of the Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach, we look forward to serving you again soon!

Stayed in the Hyatt Place because my parent had their dog. We normally Stay at the Hilton just one block down. The Hyatt is very nice, the rooms were very clean and modern. The larger king rooms are well worth the money. The breakfast buffet is very nice with both warm and cold items, well stocked, and clean. Eating on the outside patio is a great way to start the day. A tray is provided so you can safely transport your breakfast goodies back to your room. The hotel is nicely situated just a couple blocks from the beach, shops, and restaurants. The Zoo is also just a few minute walk away. MACs 24x7 in the Hilton is just a few blocks away. WifI and pool are adequate, beware, there is NO hot tub. The only reason five stars are not given is that the the bell hops do double duty as front desk. When we arrive there was a line of seven cars in the very small front portico. No one was at the front desk because they were parking cars. The wait was a little longer than you would expect. The staff that was there was always moving, friendly, courteous and professional. Overall a great place to say, especially if you have a pet!

Gefauhr- Mahalo for your comments. We enjoyed reading your recap of the Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach, however, our apologies for the delay you experienced during check-in. Please be aware that valet and gallery hosts are responsible for separate duties on the ground floor, and there should always be someone present at our front desk at all times. Our hotel is one of the only places in Waikiki where you can stay with your pet, and we're glad you appreciated this feature. We hope to welcome you back again soon!

Background: I traveled with family to Oahu for a sporting event. My husband and I had previously stayed at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort seven years ago, but as the latest reviews were somewhat negative, we decided to research another hotel. We found a great rate and many positive reviews for the Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach.

Booking/Check-in: A relative made our room reservation via BookIt.com. We had originally reserved a Mountain View room with two queen beds. Upon checking- in, we were upgraded to a larger room (same view) that also included a sofa bed. We arrived after check-in (3 pm) and our room was ready.

The Hotel: The hotel is located two blocks from Waikiki Beach near Diamond Head. Hotel highlights included a 24-hour fitness center, an outdoor pool, complimentary Wi-Fi and complimentary breakfast. Our guest room was modern, clean and very spacious. Room highlights included two comfortable queen beds, a large flat-screen TV, a mini-fridge and two small balconies. Finally, the hotel had no resort fee and offered valet parking for $30 per night.

Amenities: The fitness center was a good size for this hotel and never crowded. The pool was on the small side with no view. Fresh pool/beach towels were available (free of charge) at the pool. We only used the pool once, but had it to ourselves. Breakfast offered a selection of hot items (that changed daily) as well as a selection of fruit, cereals, breads, pastries, etc. Tea, coffee, milk and various juices were also available. Breakfast was served outside by the pool. I noticed if you left your food unattended, the birds would take advantage. (There were signs not to feed the birds.)

Overall: We were happy with our stay at this hotel. It was clean and modern, the staff was friendly and it was a great value (especially compared to neighboring hotels.) I would recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Note: There is an ABC Store next to hotel, a great place to buy drinks, snacks and souvenirs.

My husband and I (in our late 20s) stayed here in late November for 1 night and were pleasantly impressed with this hotel. It's clean, updated and nicely decorated, although the rooms are a little on the small side. Free breakfast, WiFi and a short 5-min stroll to Waikiki beach are great bonuses offered by this hotel. We would stay here again!

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights around Labor Day weekend for the Waikiki Rough Water Swim ocean race. I made my choice based on the short walk to the race start, the reasonable price, and the good reviews. The hotel was definitely very decent though not a glitzy luxury resort. The staff and housekeeping team were friendly and helpful. Our room, though on the small side, had everything we needed. And, being on the top floor (14th) corner, we had a small bit of an ocean view from the balcony. Meanwhile, you may or may not like the location. We had no trouble with its being away from the high-end retail stores and the 2-block walk to the beach. However, we were not so impressed with the number of homeless cruising this stretch of Waikiki, though it was not the hotel's fault. Breakfast buffet was excellent. We were usually the first bunch to eat when they opened. The choices and the quality of the food were the best that I had seen in free hotel breakfasts. We actually returned for a quick "second breakfast" on two occasions after swimming / hiking. The one mild discomfort was about the air conditioner. It was an individual unit for the room, with one vent pointing straight at the head of the bed. Perhaps the hotel staff could figure some mechanism to better distribute the cooling air.

youngmc8- Mahalo for your review and choosing to stay with us over Labor Day weekend! We are happy to read how much you enjoyed our complimentary a.m. Kitchen Skillet offerings, great price proposition, and view of the ocean from your lanai. We respect your comment about the homeless group you reported. Please know that safety is our utmost concern and we work vigilantly to provide a relaxing and safe environment for our guests. We regret if the HVAC in your guest room did caused some discomfort, and hope that you addressed this concern with us while you were still a guest of ours.
