We stayed a week at this Hotel at the far end of Waikiki Beach where it is quieter but has less in the way of restaurants and cafe's. The hotel itself is what you would expect for a Hyatt in a busy holiday location, the room was large enough, clean and tidy. Our only disappointment was that the bathroom was on the small side with only the toilet and shower behind a door, after using the toilet you had to come out to wash in the vanity. Not the ideal setup. Staff were fine and we enjoyed our stay. The bus stop was within a 2 minute walk, very handy. We did find the hotels in Hawaii on the expensive side. As for the free breakfast we only used this once and that was on the first morning. It was a buffet and the "hot" food looked and tasted like plastic. However, we found a hotel with a great breakfast within a 5 minute walk, eggs any style, bacon and hash browns much more to our taste, but of course at $12 a head. Our holiday was great, relaxing and the weather was good all week, no rain.

Aloha BERTIE14,
Mahalo for your review. It pleases us to read that you enjoyed our quiet location at the end of Waikiki Beach, but regret it our guest bathroom layout and a.m. Kitchen Skillet breakfast offerings were not to your liking. It would be a pleasure to welcome you back again and exceed your expectations.

Stayed at the Hyatt Place for 7 days with husband and 3 year old and it was fantastic. Just a 2 mins walk to Kuhio beach (perfect calm water for kids) made it a great location. Smaller boutique-type hotel that offered complimentary warm breakfast each morning (eggs, waffles, french toast, bagels, yogurt, cereals, pastries, fruit, etc) was convenient and very good. Rooms were clean and modern and beds were super comfy. All the staff we encountered were friendly! Thanks to Lucy for the upgrade upon arrival and Allison for allowing a later checkout on a ridiculously busy day for the hotel. We would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to friends and family. Price was also great!

Room Tip: we were on the second floor so traffic was loud, so ask for a higher floor. But honestly, we were so...

We recently returned from our trip to Oahu where we stayed at Hyatt Place in Waikiki. We took our twin 10-year-olds with us. We found Hyatt Place to be a wonderful place to stay.

1. Room was clean and modern and the bed was very comfortable! We all slept great.
2. The location was convenient and only 2 min walk to the beach. Very close!
3. Breakfast was great for being free and included breakfast sandwiches (bacon, cheese, eggs) as well as fruit, cereal, oatmeal, pancakes/waffles, pastries, juice, milk and miso, tofu, rice and kimchi.
4. Beach towels were available at the front desk and we made use of this.
5. Wifi was free and pretty fast for a hotel.
6. Parking across the street was $12 so not bad for the area.
7. Lots of dining options nearby--try Wolfgang Puck Express for a quick, tasty, and inexpensive meal. Lots of good choices for kids there. Its only a 3 min walk away--located at a hotel nextdoor. There is also Lulus (great fish), Subway, and bunch of other eating choices.

You can't beat this place for the price!

Excellent location, 2blocks from Waikiki beach. We had 4 adults in our room and had plenty of room with 2 beds and pull out sofa. Rooms were clean and each had a small balcony. Served a nice breakfast at the pool side each day. Staff was very nice. Small pool but didn't matter as we enjoy the ocean. Plenty of places to eat within walking distance and bus stop right on the corner from hotel. Would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful, but smaller hotel room with a great bed and only a block away from the beach. Pleasantly surprised how great the breakfast really was...Every morning we were able to eat a large bowl of fresh Hawaiian pineapple along with our eggs and some of the best coffee. They serve starbucks products which is a plus. Only down side was that we were on a low floor and the view outside our room was that of a ruin down apt complex, and the fact that the pool is smaller than the one in my own back yard, but that didn't stop me from loving this hotel with it's very attentive staff...we are planning on returning...

Room Tip: Ask for a mountain view on a higher floor....

If you've been reading up on this hotel, you've read mostly good reviews. We stayed here for a week in April 2013, and here's the good and the bad:

Good Stuff:
Great location - quick access to the beach and good restaurants
Cheap parking - garage across the street ($12/day or $70/week) Resorts charge around $27/day so this is a definite plus.
Modern - love the sleek and updated look and everything was clean.
Free breakfast - this is definitely a plus and very convenient so I'm giving it a thumbs up, but it does need some tweaking. We ate french toast at the airport our last day in Hawaii and we all thought that was the best breakfast we had on vacation (if that gives you any indicator as to taste of the free breakfast buffet.)
Beds - comfortable and not too soft or firm, good quality sheets, down pillows.
Free Wifi - glad it's free but it's also quite slow. We used our hotspot most of the time instead.
No Resort Fee - good grief why do hotels even have this charge? Thank you Hyatt Place for not squeezing more money out of your patrons.
Beach Towels - just pick them up at the front desk, super convenient not to have to pack them.
Beach Toys for Kids - they give you a complimentary beach pail set when you check in. Nice!
Showers - love that you can change the spray on shower handle, good pressure and water was nice and hot! Plus there is a clothes line you can pull out/retract to hang swimsuits on to dry. Thank you!
Mini Fridge - left empty so you can use it for whatever. We filled it with Diet Coke and water bottles purchased from Safeway up the road.
ADA Compliant room - don't know why we got this room as we aren't in need of this, ended up being a perk as it is bigger than a standard room and the bathroom is larger too.
Balcony - didn't expect a balcony at all, so this was nice even though we didn't really use it.
Laundry Facilities - So convenient, especially if you have kids! $1.50 for tide, $3 to wash, $3 to dry.
Exercise Room - conveniently located next to laundry room, so worked out while waiting for laundry to finish. They need to crank the ac in there as it got a little warm while working out.
Teddy's Bigger Burger - right around the corner. Ate here 3 times it is that good - put cheese on your fries cuz you're on vacation!

Bad Stuff:
Noisy - they seriously need to upgrade to noise canceling windows as the street noise is nuts! Every night we were wakened by blaring sirens, and there was constant idling noise from diesel engines (tour busses, etc.) Hotel was fully booked so we couldn't change rooms to a quieter side of the hotel. I doubt it would be that much quieter though as Waikiki is full of activity at all hours.
Incredibly Slow Elevators - we often opted to take the stairs as we were on the 4th floor. Everybody waiting for the elevators complained about this, including employees.
Noise from stair well - our room was right next to stair well and we joked that it sounded like a heard of elephants as people opted to use stairwell due to slow elevators.
Bathroom Vent - ours didn't work even though a maintenance guy said it was working (he pointed a flashlight to show that the fan was spinning - but there was absolutely no air flow or whirring noise and meant that our bathroom stayed warm and humid.)

The good definitely outweighs the bad, and it's always better to know what to expect if you are considering this hotel for your vacation. In all I feel the hotel was a great value compared to staying at a resort hotel in Waikiki. Hyatt Place Waikiki, if you are reading this . . . you are almost a 10! Consider looking into something to help with noise and elevator issues as those are your weakest points.

We arrived on 4/18 and will depart 4/25, so we are here now. Nice hotel, not too far from the beach. Staff is very friendly and accomodating. Room is small, but I guess that is expected, real estate is precious here. My biggest complaint is the balcony, it is so small, you cannot turn your chair and face the ocean. Today I noticed every other floor has a larger balcony, I got the small. Wish this would have been explained at check in. My second complaint is the ocean view I paid extra for. Yes, there is an ocean view, but they do not tell you the view is partially blocked by the two hotels in front of you. Not my idea of a true ocean view I paid extra for. Breakfast is included which is nice. Would I recommend the Hyatt Place, yes, but I would argue the two negative points I listed.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with the large balcony and barter for a discount for ocean view since the view is par...
