Ramada Plaza Waikiki
Ranked #45 of 84 Hotels in Honolulu
Reviewed June 1, 2012

I would highly recommend this hotel. This trip was a surprise to my wife. She was impressed with the hotel. Newly remodeled and exteremly clean.
There are plenty of resturants in the area from expensive to IHOP. Waikiki Beach is a block away with free fire works every night.
The parking fee that has to be paid for all hotels was the least expensive at $15.00.
A negative was that the rooms do not have wifi.

Aloha Saintmaker, I don't know how I missed answering your trip advisor comments especially when you said such nice things. We are working on having WiFi in the rooms and hope to have it by the end of the year. We do have Hard Wired internet. Currently Military guests need to have secured internet so we have been watching to make sure WiFi is approved for their stays with us.

I wish there were fireworks every night but it's only on Fridays and it's at the Hitlon Hawaiian Village (across the street) so we can offer off beach prices and free amenities.

Thanks again and I apologize for the late response.

Come back and stay with us!

I stayed at the Ramada Plaza Waikiki the first time I went to Honolulu. I was needing to be budget minded, so picked a higher-ranked 2-3 star hotel. The Ramada's location is a plus. It is in the quieter western park of Waikiki and right across the street is the Hilton Hawaiian Village. There were plenty of restaurants and stores nearby. The rooms were nice with window overlooking the outdoor pool. The staff was knowledgeable about attractions and kept the hotel clean.

I came to town for a conference at the Hawaii Conference Center. The rest of my group stayed at the Hilton across the street. I got the better stay! The rooms were just right, good internet, clean, and very generous on towels, soap, etc. so we never ran out. The refrigerator was medium sized (although older in model), it allowed us to pack with food for the week. The TV was awesomely huge and I connected my computer to watch movies. The channel selection was fine...be sure to watch the "This Week In Oahu" to see what's going on at the island. The staff was helpful especially James and Danny at the front desk. The concierge, Pam, was awesome! The pool, laundry, and fitness center were so clean and tidy, you would think no one used them. (people actually did, though) Pool water nice and cool, the sunshine was perfect from mid-morning until long into the afternoon. Laundry was right next to pool, so I took a swim as my wash got done. Fitness center was more than most hotels offer. It is the basics, but kept up nicely, not dirty or worn out. I could easily walk the 5 minutes to the conference center. Locals were very friendly and easily gave an "Aloha!" as I walked by. While at the hotel, you can take a right and hit the shops (literally 1 block then continues from there) or take a left and walk two blocks to the trolley stop. Grab the Pink Line trolley ($2) and hitch a ride through Waikiki or stop at the Kuhio Beach area. Honolulu Zoo, shops, restaurants, bars, night life...fun, fun, fun! Overall, much less expensive (half the price), much less crowded, and actually cleaner then where my co-workers stayed at the Hilton. Only disadvantage: had to walk a couple blocks to hit the beach...but is that really a disadvantage??

Room Tip: No need to get the "Ocean view". You will spend your time at the ocean instead. All the r...

Needs updating, but perfect location. Who goes to hawaii to stay in the room? The rooms also need updating, but it was clean and functional.
It could be home to the japanese airlines.... and the help could be nicer.. so go pay $400-500/night to be on the beach and get the same.
Overall, the best value for the money.. you save more than enough money, so rent a car..who wants to catch the bus..

Room Tip: corners are alsways the best.. and try to stay off the airline floors.

We really appreciate you responding and giving us a "heads" up about our property. I know it does seem like we have a lot of Foreign visitors - but they are actually airline crew from Japan Airlines, China Airlines and China Eastern Airlines. The crew makes up about 30% of our visitors and we are very happy to be their home away from home.

Thanks to your comments we will be changing our bedding and removing the bedspreads to show off our "triple sheeting" that is so much an industry standard.

Mahalo as well to for paying "off beach prices" seeing the value and enjoying our free amenities like free hardwired wireless, free workout room, affordable parking. We are proud too that we can offer full size tubs/showers - makes it so much easier to clean off the sand after a day at the beach.

Glad you stayed with us and hope someday you will return as one of our family (Ohana)!

Clean room, close to bus station, quiet, good internet connection. Here, one can have privacy. Small room but ok. Room was better than I expected. Everything was ok almost. If only staff at the reception could be a little bit more friendly and accommodating, it would have been better. Maybe, they were tired or just serious in their jobs. Especially at night when we asked the guy in suit at the reception about something, he seemed irritated that we had to ask a question. All staff at the reception don't know how to smile. But we are a cool couple, we never let such thing affect us. Overall experience was ok.

Thanks for your review...we all loved looking at your pictures especially what looked like a wedding dress and hakulei? Did you get married in Hawaii? If you did, I wish we would have known and given you some special treatment.

I'm sorry the front desk person was a little grumpy - time for some retraining and thanks to you we can pinpoint the issue and make other visitors more welcome. Most of our front desk staff have been employed for over 20 years and we need to thank them a little more and let them know THEY are appreciate the long hours they put in.

Mahalo for staying with us and seeing the value in the property.

We hope you will return and become a member of our family (Ohana)!

Warmest Aloha,
