I have stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village now for the second time, and think it is a fun and friendly experience for adults and children alike. There are penguins and beautiful koi fish.. even mama ducks and their ducklings keeping residence at the resort.

There is a lot of renovation being undertaken this time of year, but all in all, it is really not that distracting considering the prime location on Waikiki.

We stayed in the Ali'i Tower both times and really liked the interior view (pool side). The Ali'i Tower has its own check-in, pool and gym.

I would recommend this resort for young and old alike. Family friendly.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the Pool Side of the Ali'i Tower or you will be overlooking a Park on the back...

We have recently returned from a family holiday to USA, after 3 weeks traveling around we ended with 8 days in Hawaii on our way home!! Our fourth trip to Hawaii but first time at the Hilton Hawaiian with the children. What a huge place it is, spread over 22 acreas. Once we got to know our way around, we absolutely loved it, didn't even need to leave the resort as everything is there. But of course we did, just a short walk or shuttle ride to the famous Ala Moana Shopping Centre and about a 10-15 minute walk to the International Markets or there abouts. It is a great place to stay for families as there is so much to do, we loved the lagoon as you could hire paddle boats, kayaks or paddle boards or just play in the water! There is also 3 other pools to swim in too!! Also so many places to choose from to eat, all great! We were upgraded to a mini suite which was fantastic and we had a fabulous view of the beach. Our room was clean but a little tired, I think that they are about to be renovated as there was work going on while we were there but didn't disrupt us. As Hawaii Five O is filmed there you might be lucky enough to see some of it as we did!! You must dine at Tropics and have a cocktail or 2 watching the sunset and listening to some live music, awesome! We are already planning our next holiday there, loved it!!

Nov. 11-15, 2013 My sister and I went for a quick getaway. Our room was in the Tapa tower and was booked as a resort view. We got to the resort around noon and went to the lobby hoping to be able to check in early. The wait was about 3 minutes. Raylnn helped us and was so nice and was able to upgrade our room to an upper floor ocean view. The room was so nice and the view of the ocean and Diamond head made it so much better. The music at the Tapa pool in the evening could be heard in the room in the evening but it was mellow music and it ended at around 10 pm. The construction noise did not ruin our trip Waikiki is very noisy and crowded if you want a quiet paradise this is not the Island you want to chose. Our favorite staff person we encountered was Theresa a waitress at the pool area. I will definitely be back again.

From the moment we arrived the great service started. All staff were very helpful and friendly. We arrived a couple of hours before the official check in time and had our luggage stored and were able to explore the resort. We booked a sea view room in the Rainbow tower and were given a corner room on the top floor! Had two balconies but one was locked off due to the replacement of the tiles on the fascia of the building. The marina and downtown view was fantastic. Room was very large with a kingsize bed even though we had only booked a queen room - separate dressing area. Water pressure was not good but this was probably due to being on the 31st floor. Airconditioning was very loud even on low setting when needed to have a comfortable sleep.Fireworks were great considering this is a free event for anyone to view and is held every Friday night. Tried the Tropics Bar and Grill the 1st night but was not impressed - the fish was tasteless and the chicken curry a very small portion. Prices high compared to other restaurants outside the resort. The Hau Tree bar was a great place to sit and people watch right on the beach - service was good and staff very friendly. Overall a great experience and will return again.

Room Tip: Rainbow tower is closest to the beach and lagoon for families and has the best views because of the...

The Hilton Hawaiian Village is a tremendous resort. We stayed at the Lagoon Tower and our room was beautiful. All updated, full kitchen with everything you could possible need. Large livingroom with balcony, dining area and very large bedroom with master bath. We had no difficulty checking in. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The resort has many buildings, 5 pools, some with water slides for the kids, resturants, bars, shopping, you name it, they have it. All in all I was very happy with our stay there and the staff and service. I felt the downside was that they have a nice lagoon and the beach BUT if you don't want to sit or lay down on the hard sand, they don't provide beach chairs or umbrellas for the beach or for the lagoon, You can only rent them at $15.00 a day per chair and $30 per day for an umbrella from a vendor. It cost us too much per day to spend much time near the water which was very disappointing. My husband has a bad back and can't sit on the sand for a long period of time. The pools are packed each day with limited chairs. One day we decided to sit by the pool and went to three pools before we found two empty chairs. Of course those chairs were by the gate that you need your room card to enter and everyone that goes in and out of the gate lets the gate go and it slams shut making noise. Needless to say it was not relaxing hearing the gate slam every two minutes, so we left after a short time. When going to Hawaii you think of beautiful beaches, sitting by the pool, and unfortunately the conditions at the Hilton ruined that for us. Also, the Lagoon Tower has a children's pool with slides and if you get a room facing the pool like we did, when you sit on the balcony all you hear is the gate slam shut and kids yelling. We enjoyed our visit there but if we decide to go back to Hawaii, I believe we will try another island.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the ocean and not facing the pools. The pool areas are very noisy all day.

Nov. 23, 2013, I was just there last week for 8 days, I have stayed here several other times and would give them a 4 or 5 from previous stays, but when booking they was no notice on there website of the construction going on, there was quite of bit of remodeling going on, in the hotel, really noisy, they are redoing the rainbows on the side of the Rainbow Tower Hotel, and if your trying to relax at the pool you can hear the jack hammering the side of the building.Updating the lounge at the Tapa Towers, remodel of the check in area, which took over 30 mins to check in the line was long. There is also a $25 a day resort fee that you pay at check out, which I never had to pay in the past, that I was not happy about. They did give me $50 off, because I complained about the noise. I understand they need to update, but there was just to much at one time. They need someone on campus at all times checking things out, there were people at the pool that were not staying in the hotels, they came for drinks and laid out at the pool. This area was not monitored at all. The grounds were not as clean as I seen them in the past, probably because of the construction, but I use to see more clean up people on site keeping up with garbage, I stayed in the Tapa Tower this time, room cleaning was great. POOLS WERE FREEZING COLD, THE OCEAN WAS WARMER. I like to spend some time by the pool to read and relax in the pool. Most people around use were also complaining. Other than that it was a good time.

Loved the location of the hotel! We stayed in the Rainbow Tower. PRO: It's right on Waikiki Beach! Views on both sides are awesome. We had the marina view and sunsets! And we could watch the Luau every nite from our balcony! CONS: MAJOR construction during our October stay so no napping during the day...couldn't hear yourself think! Manager did comp us one night after we complained. Hard to find a chair at the pool. Jammed in like sardines. no umbrellas, no shade! Food just ok and pricey as we expected. Service okay. Just way too crowded 24/7. Hard to walk down the walkways, every elevator packed, non stop strollers...just a bit overwhelming. And the shops were just okay but very convenient for coffee, snacks, etc. PROS: The bed was awesome! Good water pressure and lighting in bathroom. Wanted to go to Waikiki once in our lives. Been there done that....

Room Tip: Higher is better. The Rainbow tower has 2 views. 1. Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach or 2. Marina/city...
