Love the environment overall, the only down side I would say is their bar by the pool close way too early. Also is a bit of a walk to waikiki. But if you coming with a whole family is great, many pools!

This hotel is beautiful as are the surroundings - everything you would want and expect from staying on Waikiki beach. Plenty of restaurant, tour and shopping options are all part of the village. Easy walking distance from the town centre shopping mall and bus stops to all over Oahu. It is very easy not to venture outside the village as there is everything you need, but we would highly recommend you do to explore more of the island.

Great location. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location is great. We sat on our balcony and heard Stevie Wonder in concert one night, great entertainment on property also and fireworks. Located on Waikiki Beach and next door to the U.S. Army Museum of Hawaii, a must see. Bus stops in front of the hotel.

While visiting my son and grandchildren who live in Honolulu these past few days, I decided to splurge and stay at a hotel that would be fun for the kids and relaxing for the adults. I booked three nights at the Ali'i Tower as I was told it was the best one to choose from out of all the towers at the resort.
The Ali'i was definitely the way to go. The general check-in desk was a madhouse. It is under renovation and the lines to check in for general guest stays were very long. Fortunately the Ali'i Tower has it's own check-in desk, so I was able to avoid the long lines which was a relief.
I asked for, and got a room on a high floor with an ocean view. My room was immaculate (and I am VERY picky about cleanliness) and it had an incredible view of Waikiki, Diamond Head, and I could also see the fireworks from the large balcony off my room. The view from the room was so beautiful and the balcony was so large that it gave us a wonderful place to get away from the crowds down below.
One the subject of crowds, a real downside was that the areas around the resort (especially the pools) were very, very crowded, and it wasn't even high season! The kids had fun swimming in the pool with the slides for part of a day, but the water was very cold and it was packed with tons of kids and families. It was noisy and crowded. Due to the huge crowds at that pool, the next day we went down to the pool that is only for the guests at the Ali'i Tower. Even without the slides the kids liked it better. It was quiet, not crowded, and my son and daughter-in-law could easily play with the kids in the pool and we could all relax without massive crowds to deal with.
The plus side of my stay was my beautiful room, the great view, and the pool area at the Ali'i Tower. The down side was that once you're out of the tower and around the resort it is extremely crowded and very expensive, also be prepared to pay a LOT of money for everything. Everything is incredibly expensive. In fact, they even make you pay for internet access! It is ridiculous to charge to use Wifi after the excessive charges that they already charge for everything else(including a $30 daily "resort fee" which is tacked onto your room for each day of your stay).
So all in all, we had a nice stay. The plus was the great room and view. The minuses were the huge crowds and the astronomical charges for everything from food to internet access.
Would I stay there again? Probably not, but if you're looking for a place on Waikiki that is clean with a beautiful view, choose the Ali;i Tower and be sure to get an ocean view room on a high floor. The view and the room provide a great respite from the crowds down below.

Room Tip: Ali'i Tower, high floor with an ocean view. Be sure to get one where you are looking towards Dia...

Hotel has 7 very tall buildings 3 swimming pools, work out rooms, located right on the beach, surrounded by high end shops, restaurants, and convenience stores. Be prepared to pay for every little thing. There are no hotel business centers where you can use computer and printers fee., In room internet connection is $31/day. Vacation Resort is at the same location as the hotel. Swimming pools are full of children, pool side service bars, music every night. It is a family vacation spot where there are lots of young children.

If you like old charm, there are hotels further north of Waikiki closer to Diamond Head.

Room Tip: Be sure to get a room with Oceam View. worth the price.

We stayed in the tapa tower and they were renovating at the time. the location was fantastic but was annoyed that you were charged for renting an umbrella and stretcher on the beach - on top of the nightly rate and resort charge.

the check in was a nightmare with one check in desk for all the towers

the kids loved the pools and the lagoon and rented paddle boards. we had the best time learning to surf with a local surf instructor, roy, that was much better than going through the resort as they charged $95 per person.

overall a great holiday

Did a staycation with the wife and got the Kama'aina rate (under $200)
That got me a 2 balcony room overlooking the beach and the lagoon. Totally worth it for the view. Parking was free. We tried the main pool (ok but lots of kids) and the new pool with slide. That one while newer was totally packed with kids (it has the water slide)
All in all, it was a nice stay, our kids spent the day with us then we kicked them out back home with the baby sitter. Had dinner outside Waikiki (way cheaper) and then came back to enjoy the room. Lobby is a bit of a maze and when we finally got to the correct lobby there was a bit of a line but the person who helped me totally hooked me up as it was my wife's birthday. Room itself was pretty large with really incredible views. AC as expected in Hawaii was freezing. We tried the cafe for breakfast downstairs and the "continental" breakfast (croissants, coffee and jam) didn't break the bank was still on the pricey side but of course it was better than leaving the resort. Count on about a ten minute walk just to leave the resort. Our view at breakfast was very nice, beachside. If the price is right, I would stay again, kids like the pool but note the food and drinks are resort priced (on the higher end). Didn't go into the ocean but the beach area is nice but crowded. BTW the free gift is the Hilton branded grocery bag.
Aloha!

Room Tip: Try to get them to upgrade you to a nicer room; it was my wife's birthday and they totally hooke...
