“Wonderful Location”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Wonderful location. Total property is around 21 acres. The room was expensive, but the views are worth it! We slept with the balcony doors open. Check was speedy. We made reservations for the luau (on property) in the lobby. Multiple restaurants on site - we were also able to walk a few blocks to shopping and dining. Bus route or taxis available too.

Restaurants on site are ok , but expensive. They also have a dairy queen.

Beach front , with chair rentals available - also a man made bay with salt water is a few steps from the ocean.

Make sure to visit the penguins onsite. You can also books excursions at a concierge desk. My wife and I recommend the para sailing it was wonderful.

Spa is pricey but they do have specials and is in a neighboring building.

general store available for things you left at home, as well as food to fix in the room and alcohol.

This was a very romantic trip, but it's a great place for kids too. Multiple pools and equipment available for kayaking or other water sports. play-station is available in the room.

Room Tip: Corner Room facing the bay is a bit cheaper and still have beautiful views

This place is a GIANT resort - if you are going for that vibe and you are a loyal Hilton fan, then you might be happy here. For me, it was too big (you need a map to get around) and felt a bit like an amusement park on Waikiki. There are people everywhere and tons of shopping. I'd say this place is fine for a night if you are stopping over in Waikiki, but if you are staying in Honolulu and want to enjoy Waikiki, I would definitely recommend a different resort, with or without kids. This place is just crazy!

My grandchildren, daughters and son-in-laws, and cousins were totally satisfied with Hilton's Vacation resort. My youngest daughter who was blind was able to enjoy the hotel and the trip. The resort had everything. It was easy to plan our tours. Our vacation was the summer of 2012.

Room Tip: Contact the Hilton vacation planners.

We stayed in the village and really enjoyed ourselves. It is a beautiful location with great beach access and the grounds are immaculate. It is walking distance to so many of the beach hot spots.
We found that all the surrounding businesses and activities in this area are very expensive. The bus service can take you all around the island to see the other areas. Rental care service is also available. Bikes, scooters they have it all. For a family it can be an all inclusive experience if need be without leaving the property

Room Tip: Higher floors with ocean view are the best

My fiance and I stayed over for the weekend for a friends wedding, I was all excited to go since I haven't stayed there yet and always wanted to because it looked nice on the outside and there were so much going on in the inside. We got there and there was construction going on, boards were up, but hey I understand that didn't bother me what did was the distance from the parking lot to the front desk, we had to cross two lanes of road going there...so we checked in went up to our room which again was a walk dodging guest, help desk, shops and an outside bar. Our room was a pretty good size, but the maintenance of the room was poor. Walls were scuffed by some two feet black marking, our light didn't work because it was broken, the door stop on the bathroom door was also broken, and I found hair on the seat of the desk chair.

As for things to do and go around the hotel, there is a lot of shops, bars and restaurants, snack and souvinear stores, but becasue the hotel is soo huge and spread out its a walk to where you wanna go which kindah killed it because its so crowded as well.

Then came our last day where we got the bill for our stay, from what we were told we were supposed to only pay for one night and we get one comp, but we got charged two nights because the person who checked us in either didn't bother to look at the comments or if he did then didn't bother to make the correct charge to our account.

Overall the stay was eh....nothing special so I wouldn't go back to staying there again. Totally not what I expected.

Went for one week with the family. Each tower in the hotel has its own character, strengths, and weaknesses. If you are not staying in the Rainbow or Ali'i tower, you feel a bit like you are traveling second or third class on the ship, no matter what floor you are on.

You cannot beat the amenities, but they come at a price. If Waikiki's energy, dining and shopping options are what you are looking for, there might be a better place to stay more in the middle of Waikiki. If a resort that requires little to no travel off campus is your goal, with some options a longer walk away still available, this is a good option it in that area, provided you do not overpay. I just strongly recommend you check out the hotels further down the beach, and do not fall in love with the size of this hotel.

As for a Luau on the top of the parking deck -- I hear it is well-done, but that about sums up this resort in a nutshell.

Room Tip: Rainbow tower in your first choice, upper floor in Tapa also works for a view, Kalia should be your...

I really enjoyed this hotel! We had a 2 bed, 2 bath complete with fully stocked kitchen and w/d. Plenty of pools, beach activities, close to lots of shopping and shows and the staff was great. We took a great day trip to Pearl Harbor and all around the North Shore with their help. Very family friendly.
