I'm sorry Hilton, I booked the Hawaiian Village because it's a resort and I don't appreciate being gouged for an additional $25/day/room on top of what I already paid. The receptionist explained it included free WiFi (sorry, didn't come to Waikiki to work), free DVD rentals (I'm paradise, not planning on sitting in my room watching TV) and use of the fitness center (don't all hotels give you free use of the gym?).

Now for the review of the hotel - overall it was a great experience, room as a bit dated but very clean and the AC worked well. There is some construction going on, but it's not noisy or bothersome. All the staff we dealt with were very helpful and willing to help with directions and recommendations etc. I found the pools to be a little on the small side, but still a great place to hang out and spend a few hours in the sun. Drinks were on the pricey side, but that's to be expected and the only thing I found bothersome was the band playing in Tropics was some sort of classic rock cover band or something like that and not Hawaiian which I would have expected.

Overall it was a very pleasant trip (minus the "resort fee" nonsense)

Stayed here for one night prior to leaving Oahu. Booked the room on Hotwire and still feel I overpaid. We were given a room in the Diamond Head tower with a view of the smoking and receiving area. When looking down from the balcony a large collecting of cigarette butts were on the overhang for the carport. Next to our door was a ventilation thing that had a large collection of dust as well as mildew growing in it. Staff was friendly but not overly friendly. This hotel has quite a few pools and hot tubs. I feel that the hotel should designate one pool and hot tub an adult only hot tub. Nothing ruins a relaxing experience more than 12 kids jumping and splashing in a hot tub built for 9. Used the Xerox business center to ship out a few packages and the woman there on 12/10 around 730 AM was an absolute B#$#$, not friendly at all!!!!! All in all this is a nice hotel but way to big to be friendly.

Room Tip: If you can stay at the Hale Koa, if do stay here use the pool at Hale Koa if you can

Aloha kp7j4x,

Mahalo for choosing the Hilton Hawaiian Village! We apologize for the unsightly view from your room and the less than welcoming service that assisted you. Our team works very hard to maintain a clean and pleasant resort atmosphere and we are sorry these areas have been overlooked. We thank you for bringing these concerns to our attention for immediate correction. We appreciate your suggestion and look forward to providing you a more pleasurable stay on future visits.

My husband and I have stayed at the Hilton Hawiian village several times. We look at other hotels closer to the center of Waikiki but in the end we stay at the Hilton because we get excellent value for the price. We do not rent a car, prefering to walk or take public transportation around town. We spend time at the beach, dancing at Ala Wai Club House, surfing if there is surf, eating and enjoying being in Hawaii. I have read some of the recent reviews and was dismayed that people were disappointed in their stay. My impression is that the hotel has changed management a few times since we have been going there and there are always improvements in decor or some structural. It seems that some area is always under construction. This time they are redoing part of the shopping area. Since we do not go to the pool I can't speak to those issues. However, with the very swimable ocean and the salt water lagoon for the keiki I am not sure why someone would want to spend much time at the pool.
We stay in the Rainbow Tower which is very reasonable compared to other hotels with similar proximity to the beach and ocean views. We have had a variety of rooms from the low floors to high floors to corner rooms on every corner. The views are outstanding from every room but not all the views are of Diamond Head. We have found the staff to be courteous and prompt. Having gone to a "family" luau on Kaui we took a pass on the Luau at the Hilton. We tend not to eat breakfast at Tropics because they are more expensive than some of the other beachside hotels. However, they have a lovely lunch menu and the setting is wonderful. We always plan a night for the Bali Steak House which has delicious creative entrees. We prefer to be on the less busy end of Waikiki only walking to the center when we want a change from the quiet peaceful beach--to try other restaurants, surf at queens or canoes, dance or shop. I appreciate the empty refrigerator since we tend to fill it up with goodies from places we eat. One of the best things about the beach at the Hawaiian Village is that it is quite deep and wide with Palm trees that provide shade for much of the day. We found we didn't really need an umbrella for shade. I agree that this is an immense complex which has a variety of activities, a range of quailty in the food choices, and construction issues. However, I find the staff exceptionally helpful and friendly, the rooms comfortable and up to date, the ammenities fine, the beach wonderful and the activites fun without being overwhelming. We particularly appreciate the use of a hosptiality room the day we are checking out which allows us to spend a full day at the beach, then shower and get ready for the long plane ride home. We always feel as if we are coming home when we stay here. We are from a big city and this has a big city feel without being as crowded or overwhelming as the center of Waikiki.

Room Tip: We prefer the Rainbow tower. It is close to the beach, beachwalk and concessions and Tropics. Almost...

Hilton Hawaiian Village is a huge property with many different room options. The hotel staff is generally helpful. They were able to assist us in changing our room after one night. We did not eat much on the hotel site but found the one or two meals we did eat there to be overpriced. There are many options in the area around the hotel that offer better food at a better price. The hotel exercise room is small with insufficient equipment given the number of guests on the hotel property.

We stayed here on 12th Septemebr 2012 for 2 nights only. The Hilton Hawaiian Village is made up of several accomodation towers about 6 or 7. You don't really know where you will be staying unitl you arrive or pay high prices for ocean front views. I think it was overpriced but then again a lot of Honolulu is. We were in the Tapa Tower which is towards the back and we had Moutain Views. I must say the room we had was quite large though dated. Large bathrooms with all that you need.

The grounds are very well maintained and there is lots to see and do. There are wide range of restaurants in the Village grounds. The service was amazing - someting Australian restaurants could learn from..hmmm.

It takes a while to get your head around the place, where to eat, where to drink, where to swim as there are many options.

Would I stay there again? I must say yes as the feeling was great. There were some renovation happening when we were there which was a little distracting but by now must be finished. I would try and stay at the Rainbow Tower or the Ali Tower due to their location to the beach.

Room Tip: If you like walking around, then this is the place to go to!

We honeymooned here is oct 2012. We read reviews on the rainbow room and requested one but to our disappointment we were moved to the tappas tower.

Rooms were excellent very clean and tidy, room service was below average there is no turn down service

We had three items stoled from the room that we had purchased, but understand that the hilton cant be responsible for staff

The view was great, we paid extra for ocean view definitely worth it on the 33rd floor

We will go back, this resort has one of the best spots in hawaii, its a family resort great for the kids not the best choice for couples on honeymoons.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for ocean view, you don't want to be close to ground level this resort is packed a...
