“A taste of Paradise--A busy, busy Paradise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 15, 2012

I stayed here for a convention in November 2012. The resort is beautiful, the location gorgeous, the landscaping to die for, but it is super busy all the time.

The resort takes a while to get to in Honolulu traffic, about 30 minutes of stop-and-go from the airport at 3:00pm. When I arrived, check-in was super-crowded and I had to wait in line for at least 15-20 minutes. It wasn't too bad though, since I had been sitting for so long on my flight!

My room was in Tapa Tower, which has a lot of construction going on around it currently. The Tapa pool was closed for remodeling. I had a fifth floor room, so my view was of the buildings across the complex. If you leaned waaaay out on the balconey and looked right, you could see a sliver of beach. A friend on an upper floor, however, had a beautiful beach view, so just ask for a higher floor!

The room itself was nice. Not super-top-of-the-line, but nice. Who is spending time in their room in Hawaii, anyway? The room was clean, the bed was fine, and I had plenty of space. There are balconies, too, even though mine had a less than stellar view. (I should add, after the pool renovations, my room would have a view of Tapa pool.)

The resort has lovely walkways, fountains, creeks, pools, landscaping and tons of beauty to see. It is crowded, though. There were always tons of folks walking on the paths everywhere. Lots of large groups of tourists. The pool was not too crowded, though. There are also tons of shops, restaurants, and kiosks around to kill time. There is beach space, and it is gorgeous, however the rentals for beach equipment are way pricier than surrounding areas. Do yourself a favor and walk down (toward DiamondHead) to the next couple of places for cheaper paddleboard, surfboard, watertrike rentals.

I would stay here for business again, but if I get to return with family or friends, I would probably look for a smaller, more quiet resort. The location is paradise, and the rooms were good, I just need less crowds for my personal paradise.

Room Tip: Higher floor, higher floor, higher floor!

I loved my stay here for valentines day with my significant other. Nice property, but i had many complaints. way too many kids in the pool, their luah was the WORST ever (ive seen every single luah on the entire island since i am forced to go multiple times to different luahs for business throughout the year, take my word, its def the worst, not on the beach, its on the roof!! if your in an ocean side suite you can see it from your balcony, you will be happy you didnt pay for that luah). My main complaint with the Hilton was with customer service, they messed up our reservation when we arrived, they ended up fixing the situation after a day & a half. we had 2 double beds instead of one king bed. Wasn't a big deal, i was on vacation so didn't really care, but the customer service was horrible. only reason we finally got moved to the room we booked was because we hunted them down. After many phone calls, getting put on hold, time wasted, etc they finally apologized & moved us. Restaurants on the premises are not great. But super clean hotel, nice shops, great firework show, enjoy having private access to hot tubs on roof etc (this is extra fee), and nice fitness rooms.

Still a very good hotel but pity about all the noisy construction work. I know some of the rooms are not great but would recommend the Rainbow towers renovated rooms they are nice.

The accessible room I stayed in is just too small in my opinion. As a wheelchair user I need space to manoeuvre and store my luggage. The bathroom is very good and is big but still find the room too compact. The electric curtains are awesome though. I would like the balcony to be a little easier to get out onto as there is a bit of a step.

The air conditioning won't go below 68F. This is obviously a money saving thing and is not good considering the money you have to pay for a room.

I would still say its a very good hotel but will be better when all the building work is done.

Room Tip: Rainbow tower has nicely newly renovated room but can take a while to get an elavator.

My wife had one demand for our Hawaiian Honeymoon, she did not want to cross a road to get to the beach. The HHV provides this option. I will say it is huge, and if you aren't in the right tower, you might have a 2-3 minute walk to the beach.

We arrived to find that they were holding two double beds for us. I am 6'5" so a double bed does not work for me. We had reserved a partial ocean view with a King bed. After checking a few things our front desk clerk said she needed to go check on something. We had been flying for 9 hours and were tired, but this was the best wait of the day! She came back and said they had a room for us in the Rainbow Tower. This was a partial ocean view with a corner room. We had two Lanais, one overlooking the ocean/harbor, the other over the grounds. The room was great, except that our safe was faulty. Once that was fixed and it wasn't beeping like crazy we had a wonderful time.

You are right on the beach, and there is a lot to do. Obviously, things are a bit more expensive, but we had a wonderful time.

Room Tip: corner rooms have two lanais!

Positives: hotel and grounds were gorgeous, lush, and immaculately clean. Staff were courteous and suite was very nice. Beach was beautiful, clean, and safe. Food at every restaurant we dined in was excellent. Fireworks show was fantastic.

Negatives: turns out, this is not really a " resort." It is like a village, with many lovely shops and restaurants. However, they are each individual businesses, not a part of the Hilton. Therefore, you still have to walk around with your wallet because charging things to your room is a bit of an ordeal. More significant is that there is NO room service at all...when we called to order a pot of coffee and muffins the first morning we were told we have to walk down to the Starbucks. (From our room on the 17th floor, around the bend, across the street, etc.)

This continued when we headed to the beach and first were told we can't have towels unless we present a towel card, which we hadn't been told about during check in. After walking to the main lobby, waiting on line, and walking back (this is a 22 acre property), we discovered that the resort doesn't provide ANY beach chairs or umbrellas...you have to rent them for the exorbitant price of $50 for EACH chair & umbrella set EACH day, and they have to be returned by 5:00.

We did expect that there would be children playing at the pools but were told that the pool at the spa (which has no view and at the time of our trip had pounding construction) is usually quieter. We were disappointed that even at that pool, which is within the spa area, there were a LOT of kids. We felt that a hotel of this size and caliber should offer at least one small adult-only area.

Overall, it was a beautiful property and we still enjoyed our vacation, but we will be staying somewhere else--likely smaller and more private--on our next trip to Hawaii.

Room Tip: If you want a sunset view in the evening, either get oceanfront facing south or ocean view facing we...

Aloha LoriandMarkNC,

Mahalo for choosing the Hilton Hawaiian Village! As of October 1st, 2012, we have introduced our new Fresh Connection concept in place of traditional room service. Fresh Connection offers fresh and fast menu items that are available for room delivery (breakfast and dinner service), phone orders and window pickup, or guests can simply stop in to grab and go. Complimentary chaise lounge chairs are available at all of our pools while rentals for use on the public beach are provided by a vendor on the beachfront. We appreciate your suggestions on how we can improve and expand our offerings to enhance the stay of our guests. Thank you for your review and we look forward to serving you again.

This resort is huge. Las Vegas huge. Same size as Planet Hollywood to be almost exact.

This was a nice stay to off set staying on the west coast. Perfect 5 day finish. Location is 2nd to none. It is in the heart of Waikiki beach. If you stay further west, you will certainly be off the beaten path from all the "hubbub" of Waikiki.

When you hear "Hilton Waikiki Village" you need to understand that it is it's very own village. There are hundreds of shopping retailers right on site. There are plenty of good shops to see between the village & the 3 malls nearby. Only complaint would be that we are in 2012, and they are still charging $12/day for wifi.
*Tip* For free wifi, go to A)The lobby B) the tapa bar. I can't imagine still charging $12 for wifi per day in this day and age of smart phones.

The food was good at every place we ate. Breakfast's were wonderful at the restaurant on the beach. There is a food land nearby, and ABC store on site for milk/cereal/beer if you so please.

Rooms - Average, no complaints no praise. They did put my wife & I into a "double" bed room, which I politely asked to be moved to a king room and they did promptly & without trouble.

The penguins are a nice touch for kids. Pool(s) are large. Lagoon on site is gorgeous and offers great swimming.

Watch the sunset at 6:00 (doesn't change all that much year round). It goes very quick, as you're in the middle of the equator!

Walk down the beach, and stroll back up on kalakaua avenue. Great shopping & food experiences.

*Fabulous small Italian restaurant called Divinos. Hidden gem. You walk in, almost appears like it could be a "dive".
*Amazing food, great prices, live guitar music who takes requests A++. Try the "meatball" spaghetti, which the ball is as big as your fist.
*Also, $12 surf board rentals beside the medical center on ena road across the street (near Divinos)
