“Good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

I stayed here for pleasure. There is no half-star rating, otherwise I would give this place a 3.5. It is old and in need of an update. The great redeeming factor is the floor to ceiling window and the ability to open the windows generously. Overlooking the beach, I enjoyed watching many a sunset from the room. It is not far from the beach as you can hit sand within three minutes. The bathroom is also enormous. I enjoyed being within walking distance to the Ala Moana Shopping Mall.

For the price, it is a very good stay but best not to walk in thinking you will be overwhelmed. It is old.

Its staff is terrific however, going out of its way to make me feel comfortable.

The rooms were reasonably large but the decor in the rooms and corridors was a little dated & 'tired' but clean. The location was central, 10 minutes to the start of Waikiki Beach in one direction and 10 minutes to the Ala Moana Mall in the other. We were there for four nights and it was ideal, if we were there any longer we would have wanted to be closer to the beach.

The Prince is in one of the best locations in Waikiki, not in Waikiki. Cross the bridge from Ala Moana and you are there. Rooms have been remodeled. The staff are happy, friendly, and helpful people. Whatever you need, they will try to help you. We have been staying here for years and will continue to do so. They could leave the pool opened until 9, but other than that great place to stay.

Room Tip: They all have ocean views but it is a closer walk to Ala Moana for shopping than the beach.

Booked a 1 night stay but was not aware of the 72hr cancellation policy. Unfortunately had to cancel our stay the night before as we had to return home to Australia early. Spoke to a lovely gentleman (Duty Manager) who was most understanding about our predicament. He very kindly stated that the hotel would refund the cost of our accommodation. Cannot say enough about such wonderful compassion & service. Although we didn't get to stay at the Hawaii Prince, we will be sure to do so on our next trip to Honolulu. Thank you so much.

Top location. A little more quiet than the crowded Waikiki area. A few hundred meters walk to the Ala Moana exclusive shopping complex, or a free shuttle to/from Waikiki beach if you prefer. We had one of the best hotel room-views ever (see our images). In the Lobby is a small store for your basic needs like drinks, snacks, painkillers etc. - souvenirs. A very complete breakfast available with a lot of variations and something for every taste. Very friendly and helpful staff. Located in the Lobby is also a travel service making it very easy to choose some of the many attractions available. Our room was quiet and very comfortable with a good bed. Various Internet packages available. (Just be aware that you are buying a plan for ONE individual device when accepting the payment). However, good and reliable service. The pool is located at the 5th floor. It's not large/deep but clean. Highly helpful and friendly staff made our full stay incl. check-in/out and bag handling a very positive experience. Thus, we would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: High as possible, and of course a sea-view!

For our first trip we chose this hotel and we didn't regret it.
Porters and concierge were perfect, we were very happy to chat a little more with the staff there, they had a great knowledge of the place and good hidden gems to check out. We came with friends and we must admit we had the best of times. The food was wow!
Thank you all for granting us a great stay!

This hotel typically has lower prices than others in Waikiki, so for your dollar it can be a good value. Some of its pros are: great views from all rooms, proximity to Waikiki and Ala Moana, spacious bathrooms with separate tub, comfortable beds and--something I just discovered the most recent time I stayed--decent food from the coffee cart in the lobby. Cons: outdated furnishings, spa is a little shady, and the biggest con--the hotel STILL smells like mildew. I have allergies every time I stay there.
