Aston Waikiki Sunset
Reviewed March 31, 2013

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite on the 32nd floor. It was very clean and we had an awesome view of Diamond Head from our lanai with a view of the ocean off to the right. It's only a couple blocks to the beach and the zoo is right across the street. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We loved that there was a full kitchen so we could buy groceries and eat in our room if we chose. We were very pleased with this hotel and would definitely stay here again. They have lower resort fees than most of the hotels in the area which pay for wireless Internet in your room and DVD and game rentals. Close to beach, shopping, restaurants, etc. Great hotel for the price!

We stayed here for 5 nights, Our room was on the 27th floor facing Diamond Head, the views were beautiful. The living area was spacious and the kitchen was modern, but the two bedrooms were small and the bathroom was tiny but modern. We cooked most of our meals which saved a bit of money. The wi-fi in our room did not work at all even after speaking to tech support. We tried to watch a DVD but that didn't work either. The floor was dirty we had to wipe our feet before putting on our shoes. The sheets did not get changed the whole time we were there. I think they need to check on the cleaning staff as they do as little as possible. Check-in was easy but I think that was because we didn't arrive until 9pm, front desk staff were not friendly we did'nt even get smile. Didn't feel very welcoming at all. It was close to the beach and the zoo but every thing else seem so far way. Check-out took for ever. The lifts took forever and you had to wait way to long. The parking was very tight.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor.

We very much appreciate your feedback on your stay with us. We are in the process of upgrading our Sony Playstation 2 DVD players to Playstation 3 within the next 4 months and our Internet provider has gone through all of our guest rooms testing the WiFi modems and have replaced any defective ones as it seems that one partiuclar shipment was faulty. Our Executive housekeeper has shared your comments with our housekeeping staff as cleanliness is a very important item that we place a high priority on as well as the inconsistency of your bedding linen change and we do extend our apologies for this. I do wish you had notified us of this during your stay so that we could have remedied the situation right away instead of having you experience this. We hope your travels do find you back on Oahu and with us here at the Sunset and allow us to better your previous expereince with us. Mahalo for selecting Aston Hotels and Resorts.

We stayed here from March 17th until March 25th. We had a one bedroom ocean-view suite 28th floor. It was enough room for the 4 of us..2 adults and 2 teenagers. It had all the amenities, fridge, stove, utensils, glasses, pots etc (full kitchen). I came in very handy as we ate or prepared 99% of our meals here. Safeway was not far away and we were able to fill our fridge. Food Pantry which is down the road is very expensive. A short walk to the beach, and everything else. Beautiful view of the ocean and Diamond Head, which was nice to wake up to our first morning, since we arrived quite late the night before. We did not use the pool because of the ocean down the street. We did surfing and para-sailing (Hawaiian Para-sail), the zoo and the aquarium. This is our second time in Honolulu. We would definitely would stay here again!

My family stayed here for one week. The room was spacious. We were on the 35th floor and had amazing views of the mountains. We saved a ton of money by cooking most of our meals in the room's full kitchen. It's 4 blocks to the beach. My kids loved swimming in the pool on the 6th floor. It does not get much sun, but that was a plus for us since we spent our days in the sun at the beach. The only reason I gave it only 4 stars is the lobby. It is really outdated. The sign on the outside looks scary.....but don't let it deter you. Once you get to your room things are clean and well maintained. The kitchen especially was updated with granite counter tops and nice cabinets. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: It's worth it to pay a little more for mountain view - its gorgeous!

Thank you for sharing your experience during your stay with us. We are pleased to hear that your stay was an enjoyable one. The condominium Association is working on a renovation plan for the public areas, which includes both the lobby and the entrance for the very near future. Recently stayed for 1 week with several other family members. We had a mountain view room on high floor and the view was wonderful, other family members had the ocean view and have to admit it was pretty spectacular.
Units were quite large with roomy lounge room, full kitchen with breakfast bar seating for 3, large bedroom with wardrobe, dresser, Queen bed and 2nd tv. bathroom also roomy with everything needed including toiletries. Lanai with table and chairs, pleasant to sit and enjoy a coffee. Decor was good and room was always clean. Resort fee $15 was for wifi, towels, dvd hire and while I would prefer it was incorporated into room rate it seems to be a common practice in Hawaii. Pool and bbq area is dark and windy and not very appealing, we did not use it at all.
Parking was $15 a day which is fairly reasonable for Waikiki.
The location is great, an easy walk to the main Waikiki shops, restaurants and supermarkets etc all within reach. Beach a five-ten minute walk and ocean pool virtually at end of street, which was great for our baby grandson.
Only very minor issue was not being able to get into any of our 4 rooms early, despite asking for early checkin on 1 due to having young baby, however apology and box of chocolates for slightly late check in was a nice thought.
Would definitely recommend this property to families or couples wanting a relaxed stay.

Room Tip: Go for a high floor to get great views.

Thank you for your comments on your recent stay with us and we are pleased to see that you had an enjoyable stay. We will always try to meet guests requests for early check-in, however, that is more or less determined by what is available at the time of arrival. We do apologize for not being able to accommodate you earlier, especailly with a little infant as we all are aware of how challenging travelling with a little one can be. We stayed here for a quick trip to Oahu in March. Great location if you love staying in Waikiki as everything worth seeing downtown is within walking distance. The hotel was clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. They have beach towels available for use (just have them back by 7:30 p.m.) and there is no cost to print airline boarding passes. There is an extra $15 charge per day for some amenities, but worth it (in my opinion) to have some of the comforts of home.

We booked this apartment last minute and were very happy with the quality considering this accommodation was cheaper than any of the basic hotels in the area for the time period. The apartment we had was very spacious with a separate bedroom and great kitchen. It was in a great location just 1 block off Waikiki beach and walking distance to the busy areas of Waikiki. The view from the room was ok, there were some ugly buildings blocking the view of the beach but you could see a little bit of water but what can you expect when booking last minute. Overall we were very happy with our choice and would recommend it to anyone wanting to self cater or more space at an affordable rate.
