Description: Inspired by authentic Sicilian recipes from the kitchens of Southern Italy's seaside town of Taormina, Chef Hiroyuki Mimura pairs fresh pastas with the highest quality seafoods and meats. Unspoiled by heavy sauces, Sicilian-style pastas are dressed in pure, extra virgin olive oil. Fresh vegetables, lightly grilled fresh local fish, and lamb seasoned with herbs offer diners a healthy range of options.Featured dishes include fresh Fettucine Carbonara finished with tableside Truffle service, grilled Lamb Chops "Palermo" and Veal "Siciliana." Taormina's specialty dish is Uni Pasta (Sea Urchin), a delicacy enjoyed in Japan and Italy. Italian espressos compliment Dolci (dessert) selections of house made desserts.

“Honolulu Italian”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

We were able to get same-day reservations on a Saturday early evening. The website says formal but beachwear was acceptable. A little too casual to be considered fine dining in my opinion. Our hostess was business-like and our waitress was not conversational at all. It may have been her first day and english was not her first language. Service was adequate and prompt. The bread selection and oil was disappointing for an authentic Sicilian restaurant. Our salads and entrees were very good. We did not have dessert. The wine list is extensive and expensive. The mark up on the wines I recognized was 4X. They should offer a few more reasonably priced wines for those of us who do not have distinguishing enough tastes to enjoy an expensive bottle.

“Felt like we were back in Sicily!”
Reviewed April 10, 2013 via mobile

We had an excellent dining experience last night at this authentic Sicilian restaurant. Our reservation at 6:45pm was timely met and we were escorted to a window-side table on the second level by the hostess. The view was only exceeded by the great meal we consumed. For appetizers we chose a bruschetta, tomato caprese, several different cheeses and a pear marinated in honey. They were delicious. I had pasta bolagnese and my wife had a veal chop Milanese style. Both entrees were superb. The wine, their house sangiovese blend was worthy of a second glass. The service was professional and unpretentious. Our waitress was knowledgeable and attentive. Price was within reason for what you would expect of this five star meal!

“A little Sicily in Waikiki”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Located on Lewer street this Restaurant is very stylish and provides excellent Daily specials with a great selection of Pasta and Salads. Our waiter Tyler, was knowledgable and provided excellent service - on point should be noted, the outside seating area looks inviting, but it is very noisy as lot's of Trolley Buses and Trucks pass bye and often Refrigerated Trucks are unloading and the noise is quite annoying and does not allow a proper conversation - even if there is a wait - it is worthwhile to get a table inside

“Low expectations but was pleasantly surprised!”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

From the outside, this restaurant looks very upscale and fancy, but the dress code is very casual which is great when you are on vacation. We were sat at the top back part by the kitchen which is a small area of only 4 tables but the food in general was very good, the large prawns were cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. The veal cutlet was very tasty and not too big but enough for a man's appetite! The only downfall was the homemade pasta which on the menu is listed separately from the dry pasta and is more expensive so I was sad to find that that it was overcooked and very soft, something I could have cooked myself. Desserts were not fabulous, I do not know why it is so hard for a true Italian to make a good Tiramisu outside of Italy. Food is not cheap here.

“Got to have it!”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

My wife and I went here for the second time sat at the same table. Our waiter was top notch!!! Great wine selection! When I mentioned I was a vegetarian the waiter said I will have the chef make you something what do you like. Fantastic noodles made that morning with arribita sauce! It is small inside and they have added additional seating. If you go make reservations. We see them turn people away that do not have reservations.
