Owner description: Hawaii Food Tours™ was created by Hawaii's #1 Food Writer and Restaurant Reviewer, Chef Matthew Gray. It's for those who love food & fun. Voted Best Tours on Oahu for the past two years in a row! Two different daily tours; one takes place in & around Honolulu... the other goes to the North Shore. We will feed, educate and entertain you all day long! MSNBC Network called us one of the best food experiences in the world! These fantastic tours feature Yummy Food, Fascinating History, and Culinary Decadence! Our Famous Hole-in-the-Wall Tour™ includes a behind-the-scenes walking and tasting tour in Honolulu's amazingly colorful Chinatown! It's an entertaining, informative and FUN Honolulu City Tour with several stops, including 2 of Hawaii's most famous Bakeries & one of a kind Marketplaces. You'll be eating between 15 & 20 different foods! This tour takes place all over Honolulu, away from the touristy areas of Waikiki, where only the real locals go to eat. Our North Shore Food Tour™ gives guests a tasty glimpse of the colorful and rural "countryside" area of our island of Oahu. Many people read about the North Shore, about the beautiful huge waves, the garlic shrimp trucks, and rustic away-from-the-city areas, and that's what we give our guests, including some genuine Hawaiian food, a garlic shrimp plate, various pastries, Hawaiian Beer, and a visit to a coffee and sugar plantation.

This delicious "Hole-In-The-Wall" tour of Honolulu will get you out of the "touristy" Waikiki areas and into the little known food gems of the city. You'll hop aboard a clean, comfortable air conditioned van and taste delightful savory and sweet dishes of Hawaii. A very unique experience that will leave you hungry for more. Prepare to meet good friends and learn a lot about Hawaii culture, landmarks and cuisine. Tour Guides Greg and Sahara are engaging, friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this tour if you want to step outside of the box and get a glimpse and taste of the city in a way no one else can offer.

On this tour, we were guided by Maile and Bill. They provided us with alot of interesting information about the locations we went to, which were mostly in the downtown area. We had many different kinds of food to sample and everyone enjoyed themselves. They are more than happy to answer your questions about the locations and if they are aware of your specfic taste, they will make a change in the food samples. This was a very good tour to go on and the food choices were very good. We got to see the real chinatown and not the really tourist-bond areas of o'ahu.

We went with high expectations and they were met. Yes it is true that we did not like all the food, but it would be pretty hard to please everyone's tastebuds. We had Sahara and Bill who were both very knowledgeable and passionate about food. They went out of their way to make sure everyone was happy - from giving the facts, holding cameras while eating to making tailored restaurant recommendations for each person on the tour. They did exactly what we expected - gave us a run down on local delights and took us to places that we simply would not have gone ourselves. Isn't that all you want from a foodie tour?

Took the O'ahu Hole in the Wall Food Tour. It was GREAT. DO NOT eat breakfast before you go- you will eat so many samples along the way that you will be full. Great sampling of local food that one nromally would not get to try when visiting the "tourist areas like Waikiki. Really enjoyed it. The 5 layers of Heaven pork belly was yummy-licious (as my grand daughter would say) as were all of the Asian pork dishes. (Can you tell I LOVE pork?) Greg and Maile were excellent food tour hosts and really knew a lot about the food and local traditions. All in all a GREAT time and I would definitely recommend it to others. Thanks Greg and Maile!

we took the honolulu tour. our guides greg and sahara were very good. they were enthusiatic and informative. they had plenty of time to answer everyone's questions and give tips for eating in the area. this was the best part of the tour.
i had very high expectations of the tour given the reviews on TA, but unfortunately it wasn't as good as I had hoped, and I would have a little trouble recommending the tour to friends. the portion of the time left in chinatown to explore on our own seemed like a filler, it would have been great to have been taken to another stop off and to try another food.
some of the tastings were lovely - including the chicken and noodles, and the masaladas.

given the price, I expected a few more tastings. I can only compare to one other food tour which i have done previously in west village NYC, which was less than half the price (i must say it was only a three hour walking tour, but i was much more full and satisfied at the end).

i can appreciate the effort and enthusiasm behind this tour - but I dont think it is worth the price tag.
