Owner description: Hawaii Food Tours™ was created by Hawaii's #1 Food Writer and Restaurant Reviewer, Chef Matthew Gray. It's for those who love food & fun. Voted Best Tours on Oahu for the past two years in a row! Two different daily tours; one takes place in & around Honolulu... the other goes to the North Shore. We will feed, educate and entertain you all day long! MSNBC Network called us one of the best food experiences in the world! These fantastic tours feature Yummy Food, Fascinating History, and Culinary Decadence! Our Famous Hole-in-the-Wall Tour™ includes a behind-the-scenes walking and tasting tour in Honolulu's amazingly colorful Chinatown! It's an entertaining, informative and FUN Honolulu City Tour with several stops, including 2 of Hawaii's most famous Bakeries & one of a kind Marketplaces. You'll be eating between 15 & 20 different foods! This tour takes place all over Honolulu, away from the touristy areas of Waikiki, where only the real locals go to eat. Our North Shore Food Tour™ gives guests a tasty glimpse of the colorful and rural "countryside" area of our island of Oahu. Many people read about the North Shore, about the beautiful huge waves, the garlic shrimp trucks, and rustic away-from-the-city areas, and that's what we give our guests, including some genuine Hawaiian food, a garlic shrimp plate, various pastries, Hawaiian Beer, and a visit to a coffee and sugar plantation.

What a fantastic way to spend a day! Keira and Mathew have crafted a fantastic foodie experience. With the addition of expert chef Robin Lee (the one and only) this tour combines culinary knowledge with local flare and fantastic food. The tour lasts about 5 hours and you are on your feet for most of it. The food ranges from sweet, to interesting, to unforgettable. Take this tour early on in your trip ( I took it on my second to last day, which was too late), because Keira and Robin will give you tips on all the local hot spots. Grade A++

Greg and Keira were our food guides for our adventure. Keira has a way of making you feel like she's been your friend for awhile, and Greg is a sarcastic foodie, which we enjoyed. They are an excellent combo that play really well of each other. The tour was great and very filling. As most past reviewers state, you spend the bulk of your day in China Town. In conversing with Greg, he had GREAT suggestions on food spots that he mentions as he is driving. Later in our week, we visited his favorite poke place and had a mango peanut butter and honey sandwich thanks to him.

They follow up your day with an email of all the stops you made and recipes, which was really an added bonus.

We were so looking forward to this tour and based our decision to go, in part, on the good reviews here. What a disappointment. The guides were good and well informed about the island, sights and history, but we did this tour for the food. We spent more than half the time in China Town, there were too many sweets, and just not enough food - both in quantity and variety. I felt like an urchin eating scraps in doorways. When we realized we'd spent so much time in China Town and mentioned it, our guide brushed it off saying, [we're not done yet.] The price was way too high for what we received. The best part was the information we received from the guides and the ride, but that wasn't really the reason we took the tour. The food was not special, nor memorable in taste. Also, we were prompted to provide positive reviews on TA - not good. Poor value - should have rented a car and created our own food tour.

So much food & a great variety! defiantly worth doing in the first couple of days of your trip so you know some great places to go later on!! Rachael & Greg were fantastic tour guides! They both had great knowledge not just on local food places but cultural & historical sites along the way too! defiantly a must while in Oahu!

We booked 6 of us to do this tour in August as it sounded a bit different and a chance to try some local foods from places we wouldn't normally go. We weren't disappointed. Sahara and Bill were both great with their knowledge and enthusiasm and made the tour a really good experience. My favourites foods were the char sui and 5 layers of heaven roast pork, but the to die for kekaulike cocktail was just unreal! Can't wait to make my own now that Sahara has sent us the recipe! Going to have a go at the char siu as well. Thanks for all the info Sahara, it's greatly appreciated. Greetings from Oz and Okole Maluna!
