To give them a little credit, I probably didn't order the right thing. My calamari was very tough and not appetizing at all. The restaurant was really nicely decorated with old images of Hawaiian fisherman, and it had a very casual setting. Our service was good, and it is easy to find. I would consider this place only for lunch, but be careful about what you order. Probably the raw seafood is a better option.

have been meaning to write this review since october. was in honolulu for about a week and we ate at uncles twice. informal dining but a true fish market atmosphere, old videos of local fisherman out on their catch. sashimi is amazing, black cod, opakapaka...all as fresh as you can get. its a great place to eat a wonderful informal dinner. locals and tourists alike. you'll be glad you did.

we really enjoyed Uncle's - fish and chips, burgers, beer, friendly service, clean, informal, in the middle of the port district off Nimitz highway. No glamour or glitz but the sort of place that would become a favorite hangout if I lived in Honolulu. Ate lunch. There may be outdoor seating - it was raining the day we were there.

Another place at the pier, and a good one at that. Not outstanding and the service was a little shaky on the Christmas eve dinner we had. Overall a 6 or 7 on a scale of 1-10. Poke sampler was very good. Miso Black Cod was more than just good but not outstanding. Opakapaka stuffed with crab was good but would rather have the fresh opakapaka without all the embellishments, Opah was quite good and I had been looking forward to finding a place with it. Not disappointed there,$90 for three, not bad for fresh fish. (not including beverages) The place looks like a new place trying to look like an old place and it knda works. We would return. Maybe lunch if there's something that takes us to that part of the island. I'd like a second opinion. Is there a reason Nico's is full and Uncle's not? Just sayin'.

Stopped here earlier this week. Food was delicious. My husbands ahi was incredibly fresh and tasty. Staff was friendly. Was some problem with our order so waitress gave us free seafood chowder to eat while we waited. Great service, will return!
