Uncle´s Fish Market and Grill has fresh and tasty fish and the price is reasonable. Try the three variants of Poke Poke - it´s really delisious. Everything we had was good except for my Calamari Salad. The Calamari were good, but the salad looked a bit "tired".

Ever craved for a place where you can get some good seafood for less. Then this is your place.

We were totally surprised by the quality of food here. I had the shrimp and my wife did the fish and we both loved every bit of it.

The fish was fresh and the taste was amazing.

There is not much of an atmosphere because you are eating in a mall sort of place, but who cares when there is such great food for such less price.

Look for signs to pier 38 and you will find uncles or just follow the stream of traffic going their way! Fish is the freshest on island and they have a nice variety. Sometimes there is a wait for a table so allow time for that inconvenience. Also if you have to wait outside it gets really hot sitting in the baking sun on asphalt. The wait is worth it for the great fish selection. Service once seated is fast!!

Located toward the end of pier 38 in Honolulu, this place has daily fresh fish from local waters. The poke/ahi 'tower' appetiser is delightful. the garlic ahi entree is great, intensely flavored and delicious. The mango chiffon dessert was smooth and soothing. Drinks are strong and creative! We'll be back next time we're in town. Being packed with locals on a Sautday night is a pretty good indicator of its popularity!

On a stopover from SFO to HNL airports we stopped for lunch at Uncle's Fish Market and Cafe. It's located in a recently renovated industrial area that serves the shipping and fishing industries of Honolulu. The location is a sanitized area in the port of Honolulu so it's fantastic for airporter travelers to be near water in a trendy repurposed and revitalized area, in a word, ideal to open a place like this here. The space itself is a frenetic attempt to humanize a steel warehouse filled with outdoor furniture with multiple big screens showing not televised sports but film loops of historical and modern commercial fishing. That , coupled with hanging fishing nets, oversized chalk boards with the day's specials and series of sailing ships and the like makes for plenty of visual noise to match the auditory noise. The service, too, fit the locale, friendly but fast paced. Our waitress came by about 3 times to get our order which we obviously weren't ready to do given the extensive menu of multiple fish options and cooking styles. They seafood options ranged from fish and chips to fish tacos with stops at barbecue chicken, a burger and steak (surf and turf) representing the finless members of our food chain. The prices were pricey for lunch starting with a $12 burger with fries to a Dungeness crab for 35 bucks. There was Whole Maine lobster (in Hawaii, really?) and a variety of fried fish options but the four of us chose the crab salad, crab bacon and lettuce sandwich on a kaiser roll, the furikame crusted opah, and yours truly had the Uncles seafood and chips. It consisted of two smallish sticks of mahi mahi which was fried nicely with a moist interior and the thin panko crust that was also found on the other items. It was joined by a small calamari steak that was fried whole and sliced tonkatsu style and two butterflied shrimp. The frozen french fries were a tad limp and cool. I had a taste of the opah and it was a bit mealy having been overcooked and the crust was a bit of a disappointment, not crusty or tasty though the relish that accompanied it was tasty. The other dishes I did not try but they both presented nicely. All in all, a bit pricey for what you get. I'd go back to try other dishes but only in the right mood to spend more than you get to eat okay food in a particular festive space and that someone else insisted. Only because all the seafood was very fresh. But don't misunderstand this would never be my first, second or third choice.
