“Nice way to end our Hawaiian vacation.”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

We stayed here for our last few days in Hawaii and it was great. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite. Lots of space for us to enjoy. The pool was fantastic. The smaller attached wading pool was great for little kids and the rest of the pool was so warm and inviting.
We love the complimentary breakfast buffet, and being able to enjoy it outside near the pool was wonderful.
There are lots of restaurants and shops near by. Great location, the beach was only a few blocks away.
We've always enjoyed staying at Embassy Suites, and the Waikiki Beach location was no exception. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were very modern and clean.

We stayed at this hotel for four nights last month based initially on the location, availability and price. It was spring break, so the place was PACKED always. But even though the hotel was probably at capacity, I think the employees all handled the crowds very well, and with smiles.

The hotel is in a great updated location and there are new shops and restaurants literally outside your doorstep. Many choices for shopping or dinner. Casual burger and pubs, to upscale Roy's right downstairs which is one of the best restaurants on Waikiki.

We were lucky to be upgraded to a corner suite which had -3- balconies with sliding glass doors, 2 in the living area (corner side) and 1 in the bedroom. It's true what people say about the higher the floor the less the street noise, we were on the 10th floor, but still shut our patio doors at night due to the noise.

Everything worked great. The free breakfast was good, with lots of variety for the internationally mixed guests. A nice touch was the omelets station where you put whatever you wanted in your omelet into a saucer and then simply handed it to the chef making the omelets. This really hastened the process and the line moved quickly even though the place was usually super crowded. The coffee station was also in a different area outside of the breakfast area adjacent, so it didn't congest in one area.

The happy hour was also nice. There were LONG lines for everything and it was kind of a feeding frenzy for the bowls of pretzels and peanuts, carrot sticks etc. The lines for the drinks were usually worse, but it was spring break so it was to be expected. The band was GREAT, and made the happy hour so much better!

The rooms were clean, nice little refrigerator and coffee in your room. TWO large screen TV's, internet, etc., There were chairs on your (small) balcony also so you could take a drink up to your room to get away from the crowds and sit out on your balcony to enjoy the view.

One unique thing is the pool towels. They are in your room, so you bring them down with you and take them back. They will switch out for clean ones if you want also, and even give you extras. The nice thing about this was that generally, people took their towels with them when they left, so if a pool chair was vacated you would know, vs. a towel laying on a chair for hours, without any knowledge of if the chair was being saved, or the person being in the water etc., The pool is SMALL and crowded. The day we arrived somebody's child soiled the connected whirlpool, and they had to shut the entire pool down while they drained the whirlpool and then cleaned and shocked the entire pool. This took hours. People were complaining about this, I thought they should complain about the parents and appreciate that the hotel wanted to insure it was sanitary for the guests.

You saw the same employees working breakfast, bartending, serving at the pool, and they were very friendly and down to earth. Hospitality desk guys are also very nice and helpful. Encountered nice employees everywhere which is so appreciated.

I mentioned Roy's earlier, and this is a bonus for this hotel. It is literally connected to the hotel, and one of the best restaurants on the island. Don't be fooled by the seemingly small quiet area you walk by - (we were at first) the place is huge and opens up into a really great restaurant once you get inside. Great place to dine - steps from your room!

Would definitely go back to this hotel again.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less noise. Corner room has great views

Dear StPaulygal,
Thank you for all of your comments regarding your stay. It was very detailed, and I think very fair. It also expressed all of our great amenities; including free breakfast and cocktails. I am glad that the pool towels in the room worked out for you, as we think it is a good program. It is nice that you were able to enjoy Roy’s restaurant while you were here. Looking forward to you coming back.

Once we arrived, checking in went very quickly. Our reservations were for a 2 bedroom suite with partial ocean view. Much to our surpise, the 2 bedroom suite was quite roomy, we had our privacy with 2 bathrooms, clean, and great view of the ocean. We were on the 15 floor so we could see the pool below us which is on the 4th floor. Breakfast was great, more than we had expected. Happy hour was good unless you expect premium hard liquor or wine, the snacks to go along with the happy hour were just so, so but were stopped here before going out to dinner. The live band that plays twice a week were great! We do not plan on returning to Waikiki since this was our third trip there, but I would diffenetly recommend this hotel.
Make sure you travel before the summer crowds and high season rates.

Room Tip: Higher floors away from the elevator with partial ocean view was great.

Dear Ladyviv2013,
Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay. I am glad you enjoyed the breakfast with all the different selections that we offer. You are right, with free cocktails we are unable to serve the top shelf liquor, although we do serve a great maitai. Thank you for your recommendations.

Clean, close to the beach, modern, helpful staff, large rooms, excellent free breakfast. A good place to stay in this area. We were treated very well by all the staff. Even the bell staff and parking attendents take the time to assure you are having a good stay. We were given printed, turn by turn, directions to local attractions just because they saw our GPS and wanted us to have a back up. They go the extra mile.

Stayed at this hotel 5/13-5/18/13 and loved it. While it's not on the beach it's close enough to walk, like real close. The staff was very welcoming. The rooms are suites and nicely kept. We loved the breakfast and evening manager reception, esp the nights when they had the live band. I strongly recommend this hotel.

Booked 4 nights only fortunately. Paid quite high rates and our first room was tiny right next to lift very noisy from lift and outside. Asked for changeof room staff very accomadating and gave us new room in other building bigger but kept awake by tv next door. All in all a very average hotel

Room Tip: Ask for high room at end of corridor
