“Great food, ambivalent servers”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

My family ate at Nico's and enjoyed the food, but found the wait staff to be lazy and disinterested in earning a tip. We had two diners in our party that are gluten-free, and appreciated that some of the menu items were labelled as gluten-free. However, when we tried to inquire as to the modifications, we received the following responses from out waitress - " I don't know, the kitchen doesn't tell me what they do to the dish" or "If you want your food to be gluten free, just order the dish" or "this our last piece of the gluten-free dessert, you are lucky".

We finally got the kitchen manager to come out and he was fantastic. He clearly knew what was in each dish, and gave us some additional options.

We know that it is hard for restaurants to offer gluten-free options, and it is also hard having to be on a gluten-free diet. Neither is made easy when the wait staff is ambivalent to the concerns of the customers. Our tip certainly reflected that service.

However, when we received our food, it was excellent.

Thank you for this very detailed and constructive review. This nicely constructed feedback is vital to us to improving the customer experience and to inspire and provide knowledge and tools to our servers. We will definitely attend to these issues. Mahalo!

We found Nico's while on a 2-week stay in Honolulu...So great we went back twice! Absolutely beautiful view of the harbor and Waikiki, and the food lives up to the scenery. The seared tuna with fries and wasabi aioli was excellent. Amazing fish tacos as well. A must if you are on Oahu!

“Great lunch”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

I'm here for Navy duty. Some of the officers I worked who live on Oahu took me to Nico's for lunch. As a Mainer, I am particular about my seafood. Nico's is amazing the fish is fresh, well cooked and reasonably priced. Not the easiest place to find, but when you do you will be very happy.

“Great place, fresh fish”
Reviewed March 24, 2013 via mobile

We ate here our last night in town. Great view, love the openness! Food was fantastic. We are always looking for good calamari! We usually dont get desserts, but we did and all 3 desserts were very generous in size and of course great! Love the market that is attached too! Would be great if you had a kitchen to prepare food yourself.

“Lot's of hype, but not so great”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

We found the menu to not have many options. My husband felt there was too much breading on his fish. I had a pizza, and it was just alright.
