“Muddy but worth it...”
Reviewed June 13, 2013 via mobile

Bring shoes you don't care about...seriously! Wear mosquito repellant and bring a hiking stick. It's muddy and trecherous and you may fall. The deal is that the view is amazing, the falls are worth seeing...think of it as an obstacle course, a challenge sort of thing. Commit to it and do it!

“Mudbath”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

Great hike to the falls, they are very beautiful and I recommend the walk, do put shoes that can get dirty, we went after a few rainfalls and were in mud to our knees, but it was still a great experience

“Great exercise and a beautiful walk but don't expect a spectacular waterfall at the end”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

Its a bit of a hike to get to by public transport - you'll need to catch a couple of busses and make sure you tell the bus driver what you're intending because some hotel trip organizers aren't up with the bus routes.
Also - this hike is VERY muddy! Don't expect to come back without mud up to your knees. It's a difficult hike for elderly and children as there are plenty of boulders and slippery steps.

“The waterfall at the end is worth all of the mud on the trail”
Reviewed June 8, 2013

At the beginning, the trail is covered in small stones and is easy to navigate. As you go a little further on the trail, it is covered in mud, and is slippery in some spots. However, as you walk, you get to see some of the most beautiful landscapes, small waterfalls, etc. It's an absolutely gorgeous walk through a rainforest. It's not exceptionally steep, but you do climb in some areas. The main challenge of this trail is the muddiness and trying not to slip. Don't wear flip-flops or sandals. On our way out, we saw people walking in wearing flip-flops and felt so badly for them. On the trail, there were people in sandals that had taken them off completely and were walking barefoot because their sandals had made it too slippery for them. Wear good shoes! At the end, you get to see a beautiful waterfall. If you can handle getting a little dirty, definitely do this hike; it's worth it. There's a hose set up so that you can rinse your shoes on your way out.

“Great hike”
Reviewed June 7, 2013

This is a great walk and the waterfall is fantastic. It had rained heavily before we visited so the track was very muddy - we got pretty wet and dirty but it was absolutely worth it. It's not far from Waikiki either.
