“Good for what you pay for”
Reviewed July 12, 2012

Stayed here with a friend in May. The other reviews are pretty spot on. It is clean but hotel is worn. Towels in bathroom were worn and we had to keep taking towels from the pool area because we didn't have enough for two people.
Reception staff could be more friendly but Walter on the concierge desk was great he makes up for the reception staff, and is recommendations were spot on.
Quite a good location close to the beach, pool does not get sun in the morning.
Good budget hotel.

Room Tip: Higher floors with ocean view are the best

We are from San Diego, CA and stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. Excellent location, close to the beach. The staff is very friendly. The underground parking is a challenge to park. Outdoor parking is great. Its swimming pool is outdoor one on the 2nd floor. Our 2 boys loved it. Overall it was a great experience!

Room Tip: With the partial ocean view one!

We were very satisified with our stay at the Waikiki Resort Hotel. Nancy at registration was extremely helpful and very pleasant. Our oceanview room (1818) was perfect, with a kingsize bed and lots of space in the room. The bed was extremely comfortable with nice soft sheets and plenty of pillows. Lots of closet space, fridge in room, very convenient. The very short walk to the beach was a breeze, with shops and restaurants all around. Definitely would recommend !

Room Tip: We stayed in room 1818, upgrade was complimentary.

We had a great stay at the Waikiki Resort in Honolulu. We were in Honolulu for 6 days and this hotel has a fantastic location! It really is 1 (very short) block to Waikiki beach! It is just off the main drag along Waikiki beach, where there are lots of shops and restaurants. The lobby is bright and open-air, with colorful stained glass on one side. We booked a mountain/ocean view superior room and were located on the 17th floor. The room was a good size and very clean. The bathroom was separated into the sink/closet area and then a separate toilet/shower room. The toilet/shower room was very tiny, you had to squeeze in to shut the door behind you, but no big deal. There was a mini fridge in the room which we found helpful so we could keep snacks/drinks cold for the week. The bed was comfy and we didn't find noise to be a problem at all (from other rooms, the hallway or outside). We overlooked the pool and since we were so high up we could see Waikiki beach and the ocean from our room/lanai. The pool was small but a nice spot to go to if we didn't have much time between activities, or if we didn't feel like heading to the beach. They have towels for you to use at the pool and beach. There is a shop off the lobby with basics in case you forget anything, or there are ABC stores on almost every corner where you can pick up essentials or souvenirs. The front desk staff was helpful and friendly enough, nothing over and above though. The bellman was very helpful with getting us taxis (and pre-negotiating rates), and writing up bus routes to and from various destinations around Honolulu. We had a car for a couple of days so we parked in the garage 1 night. It was small and crowded but did the trick. Our only suggestion to the hotel was to have a courtesy room where people can freshen up quickly before their flight. We checked out at noon and didn't fly out until 11pm so we would have appreciated a quick shower/face wash/teeth brushing after the afternoon in the sun before we got on the 12 hour jouney home. We enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely stay here again or recommend this hotel to others!

Room Tip: Higher floors have a view of Waikiki beach and the ocean

This hotel was excellent for a couple of days. Very close to everything, two minute walk to Waikiki beach. Loved the fact there were no front doors. Location is excellent and we had a junior suite which was very spacious and clean. Would definitely recommend.

I picked this hotel on a "mystery hotel" promotion for $99 a night, standard room for 3 nights. Arrived at the hotel, and was surprised with an unsolicited upgrade to the 18th floor, a one bedroom suite. Beautiful, huge, and very clean, with fridge and microwave and regular dishes and utensils. It does not have the "resort" amenities, of valet service and doorman, etc..etc..., but for the price, and how clean the room was, who really cares about anything else.
What can I say, I will come back again to Waikiki Resort.
