December 2011 stayed at the Waikiki Resort.
Good room , but the view over the other hotels was not good.
Lots of apartments that are shabby to say the least.
Room was always cleaned well, furnishings nice and good size television.
No internet in room but they advertise wifi in the lobby, which didnt work on several occasions.
Small fridge and coffee maker in room.
Great location, within 2 mins walk to beach and 5 mins to Int Market place.
Front desk was helpful and reservations good as well.
Parking , the cheapest i have found in waikiki at 18 per day.
would stay there again.

Excellent value for a location so close to Waikiki beach - just one street back. Staff are very helpful and the rooms are fine although the bathrooms are small.
Hotel is orientated to Asian guests so you'll be fine if you want Korean or Japanese food. If that is not your thing, there are plenty of other places around.
Our room was near the lifts which were noisy so avoid that if you can.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the beach - and avoid being close to the lifts

The best thing about the hotel was Walter, the concierge. He was knowledgable, funny and very helpful. The front desk people were not very nice and helpful. The hotel is located in a greatr spot, but it is located on a very windy street, so hold on to your hat! I would stay here again because of Walter.

Room Tip: Go to Walter, the concierge, for help because the staff want help you.

My husband and I, along with my sister and her husband, stayed at the Waikiki Resort Hotel in December for two nights prior to a Hawaiian cruise. We found the hotel very comfortable and the people very friendly. It is not a new hotel, and shows some signs of aging, but the recent remodel includes all new furnishings and amenities. The Ilima restaurant serves a very good breakfast, and is also open for lunch. The waiter in there was particularly pleasant. There is also a nice looking Korean restaurant though we didn't try it. The hotel is less than two blocks from the beach and all of the shops and restaurants of Waikiki.

It would have been an above average hotel (in it's price range) but being greeted by pee stains on the bathroom toilet seat upon check in does leave a bad first impression. Otherwise everything else was OK, but note that it is an older hotel, and you get that "worn" smell from the bed sheets. A definite highlight was our wonderful concierge Walter, who was extremely helpful, efficient, knowledgable, funny and animated.

My sons and I stayed at the Waikiki Resort hotel this past summer and I can only say that it was a truly pleasurable experience. Obviously other negative reviewers may have been affected by loud neighbors or some random street noises--but overall you can have that issue with ANY hotel near a boulevard. The staff were extremely friendly, the breakfast restaurant was small but very accommodating--and you're located right across the street from the beach. Unless you wish to pay 2 to 3 times as much money--this is a fine choice.
