If you got a car and are driving around the Honolulu area anyway, this is worth the stop. Free to get in and park, great view of city, punch bowl, Diamond Head, and you can even see Pearl Harbor in the distance. Fun drive up the winding roads.

Everyone should go there...Rent a car and pack goodies and wine. Best view you can see....Park close 745pm but enough time to see sunset!

The best view of Honolulu, Waikiki and Diamond Head! Worth the drive and don't forget your camera. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy it el fresco in one of the pavilions. For those of you who love hiking, there are a few trails. For us, we just went to enjoy the ride on our motorcycles and the view.

We were fortunate enough to get up to the park right before sunset. The parking here is very limited and cramped. However, the jaw-dropping views are worth it! Earlier rainstorms caused several rainbows to appear just as the sun was beginning to set. We hiked Diamond Head earlier in the week and these views were much more impressive. Definitely bring your camera and someone to snuggle with as you watch the sunset and the city come to life!

If you want to be amazed and impressed, try the panoramic view from the Puu Ualakaa State Park at sunset. Beautiful!

If you like a great drive on a very curvy road (the selling point for my husband), you will love the trip. The drive is beautiful, very much the feel of a rainforest even though there are zillion dollar houses everywhere.

Go early so you can get a parking place next to the lookout platform. No fears if the lot is full. You can park at the larger parking lot at the trail head and take the short walk to the platform.

Be careful coming down because there are LOTS of tourist buses and limos parked at the pull off facing Diamond Head at about 7:30 pm. Several were parked in the road so be careful as you come down. They don't appear to go to the lookout because the gates close at 7:45 pm in the summer so enjoy the sunset and be careful coming down the mountain.

For those of you interested in photography, clouds make beautiful sunsets. Be happy if there are clouds hanging on the mountain range.
