“excellent views of Waikiki and Diamond Head”

If you can't climb Diamond Head this is the next best alternative. The views are fantastic! The only draw back is seeing Waikiki from this vantage point isn't as nice. Be sure to take some cool pictures of Diamond Head using the trees as a blurred foreground.

The drive up Mt. Tantalus is beautiful with a rainforest feel. The views from Puu Ualakaa wayside are amazing. Go in the late afternoon to catch the sunset views. You can't see the sunset from there, but the cloud coloring and the light on the city is great. Stick around and watch Honolulu light up as night falls.

If you're on Oahu, you have to drive up to the lookout just to take a bunch of pictures. You can see all of Waikiki and more from there

Please do yourself a favor and take the Round Top/Tantalus Drive and stop at this lovely park. The lookout to Diamond Head and Honolulu is spectacular and makes for a great photo album cover page. This was well worth a 30 minute diversion.

I agree with all the other reviewers, Great view. Set gps and it took me right to it in less time than I had thought. What do those homes on the side of the mountain do in a heavy rain?
