The 12th Ave Grill is about 2 miles away physically, but light years away culturally, from Waikiki. You'll find it to be a nice neighborhood restaurant which is justifiably popular and noisy. We shared an appetizer of beer battered fried avocado which I thought was bland and needed some sauce to perk it up. However, the 14oz prime rib steak served with roasted radicchio and a mushroom/madera sauce was a huge success. I asked for extra bread so I could sop up all the extra goodness from the plate. Modest prices for bottles of wine
Honestly, you are not going to save money by coming here. The prices are within a couple of bucks of what you will find on the Waikiki beach. If you add in the cost of a taxi, it may be cheaper just to pick a nice restaurant near your hotel.
