We were treated to dinner at Arancino Oct. 12th. by our super good friends just prior to them moving to the mainland. Restaurant is in the Kahala Hotel with delightful al fresco dining in a pleasing atmosphere. Our table was attended by Omni who has an endearing manner, quick wit and impeccable service ably assisted by other young men who also did an excellent job. For salad or soup my three companions had the lobster bisque which they thoroughly enjoyed, I loved the Cesare salad with the romaine lightly flame grilled and it was both unusual and very tasty. For antipasti two had the Arancini and one had sautéed foie gras which they all thought wonderful, I had the prosciutto and papaya which was a bit disappointing as the fruit was over-ripe and mushy. For “Primi” I thoroughly enjoyed the Okinawan potato gnocchi and proscciutto which was outstanding. Two of us had the Muscovy duck with organic mushrooms and that was tender and flavorful and grilled to perfection; another had the fish special which she enjoyed and our fourth really liked his lavender-infused Tajima beef. For finale three of us devoured the rich and delightful dark chocolate torte. This was our first time at Arancino and we will return. Excellent food, perfect weather and outdoor ambience, super good service, wonderful dining companionship… what a fantastic evening! Five-course meal at Arancino is a bit pricy but quite filling and well worth the experience. It is super for a special occasion… or just go and it will actually become a special occasion!
