This is a restaurant that I always make time for when visiting Honolulu. It is a French Asian restaurant that always has unusual foods, lovely presentations and an excellent chef!

Beautiful Miro art inspired dining atmosphere in heart of Honolulu. The trendy Waialae Ave. eatery offers elegant yet casual French fare at a surprisingly reasonable price of $43-$54. I basically hate French food with its butter and cream based cuisine, high prices and presentation... but Miro was a delightful experience. The menu is prix fixed with appetizer, main course and desert. The wine is not over priced. The atmosphere is simple, artistic with plenty of Miro paintings, the staff is local, friendly and attentive.

From the street the entrance is unassuming but once inside, there is a small bar, open kitchen and it feels like you are eating in someones home. The chef complementary potato soup was chilled and is something that you can not make at home. The homemade Foie Gras and Chicken Liver Pate was exceptional folded into fresh dinner rolls. Ahi Carpaccio Wasabi Mayonaise with Fresh Mixed Salad made me want to cry. Anago/eel salad was tasty but I prefer Japanese style with no breading. The oyster appetizer was fresh with 4 large shells presented beautifully. The Kona abalone was local which supports the local fishing industry.

Entrees of rack of lamb with shiitake mushrooms and mint sauce.. was perfect.. marinated making the meat tender and less "wild" tasting. Also experienced was a tenderloin steak in garlic teriyaki sauce or with a daikon fusion sauce made with sake or maybe wine. The roasted breast of Duck with balsamic vinegar reduction would have made Gordon Ramsey envious. Desert included a Miro inspired presentation of creme brulee, some cheese and a little mango sorbet cleansed the palette and lifted the spirit. While the prix fixed menu might seem high.. it is nothing compared to eating at a Nobu or Morimoto that easily run $100 a head.

The owner and the chef might be Japanese but this is not a franchise catering to JTB .. but there is a good buzz in Japan social media as well as those in the know in Hawaii about this restaurant, so you know the food is fresh, the kitchen clean and the spirit of aloha is respected and in each aspect of the foods preparation, presentation, service. I loved the Miro artwork.. the genuine aloha from the staff. Grade A.. Mahalo

Cafe Miro offers some of the best French cuisine to be found in Honolulu. Everything we have is always great. Although this establishment caters to the Japanese, the food itself does not have a Japanese flavor.

Service, led by Jimmy and Reiko, is excellent. The staff will provide your every need, with the customary Japanese courtesy.

I can not express enought the impeccable service extending to make this meal increadably enjoyable.
The food is a knock out, rivalling any 5 star french restaurant and at only $45 per head? I would gladly pay double. You must make cafe Miro your 1st choice for French cusine on the Island.
