“Attitude!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2013

We live on Oahu. We used to go to this restaurant for dining before Blaisdell events. Food was OK but always a bit pricey. Nevertheless, we decided to give it another try. We tried three times to call for reservations, left two messages on two separate days and in four days time never got a return phone call. We tried again only to get a recording that said they had a private party so again we got "leave a message". Apparently they think they are the only game in town for fine dining in the Blaisdell area so they need not be concerned about consideration or respect for their customers. Beware of the arrogant attitude.... no restaurant is worth tolerating disrespect. We have written them off.

“What a wonderful surprise!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 8, 2012

The only drawback is a $15 taxi ride from Waikiki, but the BYOB wine with only a $5 corkage fee more than makes up for the taxi. Excellent service and fantastic salads and escargot. Great bread. I loved the half rack of lamb, five pieces and the dover sole that my wife had was wonderful......dessert was fantastic, a double chocolate cake. We will return.

“Wonderful dining experience.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2012

Our party of six had dinner here before the show at the Blaisdell Concert Hall. They offer a short menu on concert nights. I had the escargot with garlic and parsley butter for an appetizer. Then the Salade de tomato, which had very fresh and very tasty tomato slices with toasted walnuts, crumbled bleu cheese and a honey vinaigrette dressing. My main was Fillet of sole served on buttered quinola. Everything was excellent. All in our party agreed with this rating.

“Another great meal!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2012

We enjoyed another great meal at Le Guignol last night! I always have their Salad Lyonnaise and we also sampled the Sweetbreads as a starter (there were 7 of us) and the Escargot. I selected the Pork Belly Confit paired with white beans and grapes (it paired beautifully with a 2005 Patz & Hall Pinot Noir) while the Mrs selected the Filet Mignon with Sauce Bordelaise. Dinner is always great, Chef Ala and staff are very accomodating and it's BYOB!

“Nice Casual French”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2012

I like this restaurant, but we don't frequent it much. Great location by the Blaisdell Concert Hall, with free parking in the evening...make sure you have reservations! THE BAD NEWS: Food took forever to come out (we were there 3 hrs) - there were 2 large groups, & the restaurant was full....bring your own wine & enjoy the evening! Escargot was overdone, swimming in butter & accompanying French bread was hard...Someone was alittle heavy-handed with the torch, so the creme brulee was burnt on one side...I wouldn't order it again. THE GOOD NEWS: Roast duck was sliced & done very nicely with a red wine reduction drizzled over it...filet mignon was done just right...braised short ribs were tender & tasty...tomato salad was nice...lemon sorbet was refreshing. Servers were attentive, even while we waited & waited for our food. Nice dining experience if you're not in a hurry & gave us lots of time to catch up with friends!
