Michele's is a Honolulu landmark restaurant. We first went there in 1969 and it was highly regarded then and is now and for good reason. Lots of table side service like Cesar Salad, Lobster Bisque and Chateaubriand. There are bad tables and I'd say if you cannot get a table next to the windows facing Waikiki or the next row, I would not go (reservations are required). Expect to pay about $100 per person if you have an appetizer, main course, desert and wine. It is too expensive to go there if you don't get a good table

Michel’s At the Colony Beach

The drive in looked like your average upper upper condo that has aged. Never judge a book by its cover. Courteous, fast valet and down a few steps through a tired lobby. So much for the cover. Then the book itself takes you into a never, never land of Hawain romance for an open air, birthday brunch on a Honolulu Beach at a much awarded classic French restaurant. Yep, with wide open windows onto the private hotel beach, fresh mild sea breeze wafting in, loads of sun, outriggers, surfers and swimmers. Inside, French formality with ample wait staff bedecked in matching black and flowered shirts, white table clothes, orchids, black starched napkins waiting for individual placement, white and black plate settings, well-padded comfortable chairs, a ready booster for the two year old, and very hushed table talk. Ready for the food.

I started this once available per month breakfast buffet with a plate of ocean fresh Pacific oysters and three sauces and samplings of my wife’s 100% deep red, ready to melt fresh Ahi Shashimi Tuna with a dill vin and beure sauce on a bed of mixed greens and my neice’s Madras Seafood Crepes stuffed with a Kona crab and rock shrimp in a gentle coconut saffron curry. Entree time: I dug into my Salmon San Jacques with its crisp crust wrapped around mahi-mahi and salmon with softly seasoned mashed potatoes. My niece downed her dual green eggs benedict (with spinach) and the others reported delicious coconut crème filled French toast with Macademia nuts and sides of crisp apple wood smoked bacon.
Attentive but not oppressive waiters poured cup after cup of perfect Kona coffee or personal tea choice and removed spent dishes promptly before we ended with Peach melba or Chocolate soufflé. A peak lunch experience on a perfect Oahu day!

Visited Michel's for brunch with my family as part of our Christmas celebration. Unable to get reservations for dinner on Christmas Eve (plan early for that), we, instead, went to brunch on December 23rd. The entrance is a little hard to find as the property is fronted by some rather unattractive parking ramps, a garage, etc. and then you walk through the lobby of a residential style building but once you are past that the views, staff, food, and experience are well worth it. This wasn't a typical brunch with barely warm food sitting in chafing dishes, this was individual selection off of a menu with at least three options per course. The wait staff was knowledgable and offered honest feedback on the choices available. Even at the height of the service, the atmosphere was calm and relaxed. Great choice for brunch. Highly recommend it.

We went to Michel's with friends who had been there a number of times. We had seen the restaurant from outside for several days as we had been at the beach. It looked like it had a fabulous view of the ocean and a great opportunity for a beautiful sunset. That was so correct.
We went there for dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday. We made reservations for the first seating so that we could get a table immediately overlooking the beach.
The service was amazing and the food wonderful. I had the cesar salad, Onaga and the highlight of the night was the cherries jubilee.
There was a wonderful selection of wine and lots of help selecting the best choice to go with our dinner.
This is a wonderful spot to spend a very special evening.

I love this restaurant, this was the second time we had dinner at Michel's and we were not disappointed. We requested a table next to the window when making reservations and our table was waiting when we arrived. Both the food and the service is outstanding. The restaurant is beautiful and is a special place to enjoy a romantic dinner.
