My husband and I decided to try Sarento's lounge for happy hour wines and small plates one evening while staying in the hotel. Everything is discounted between 5:00 and 6:30PM in the lounge, which makes for a real bargain in a five star restaurant with a five star view of Honolulu. We started with a glass of wine (which turned into two) and the calamari fritti, which was our only disappointment of the evening. The appetizer was barely warm, the calamari rings rubbery. The marinara/aioli dipping sauce was tasty, though. We then sampled the penne pasta with spicy marinara, sausage, eggplant, and goat cheese, which was delicious and perfectly prepared. We also sampled the eggplant and multi-cheese cannelloni with marinara and arugula which was also wonderful. For dessert we tried the volcano hot fudge cake with vanilla gelato and macadamia nuts, which was superb. Dessert coffees with liqueurs completed our happy hour lounge meal. Our tab was just under $100.00, including tip. Our server Laine was wonderful, and overall we really enjoyed our dining experience at Sarento's. We would definitely return.
