A friend from San Francisco recommended Hy's, saying it was like "the old" Alfred's restaurant in that city. An accurate description. Excellent steaks, Caesar salad for two made right at your table (not cheap; two salds for $30), old-fashioned decor and atmosphere and a great Hawaiian guitarist singing James Taylor and related songs. We did not have desserts. The restaurant describes itself as offering "affordable elegance." The latter word is true but this is an expensive restaurant, especially for persons coming from towns and cities where they may not be used to being served $50 steaks. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great steak in Honolulu..
