The hike to Diamond Head was great! The hike itself is not too difficult, but it gets a little steep towards the top. There are also quite a number of stairs in the last section which makes your footing challenging if the ground is wet. Shoes with some traction are very helpful. The views from the top are well worth the hike. The difficult part of Diamond Head is definitely the parking. Very small parking lot that was full by the time we arrived at 7:15 a.m. on a Saturday morning. They let you into the parking lot even though it is full, then you drive around waiting for spaces to open up. It is a very small lot, we waited about 20 minutes (until after 7:30 a.m.) for some buses to leave which finally gave us a space. Great hike, worth the time but be sure to arrive early to get a parking space.

Fun hike, about a mile long on uneven ground, many stairs, and a lighted tunnel. Windy! Hot hike if you arrive later in the day. Lots of people have to squish on to the lookout areas. $5 parking.

Everyone needs to walk the crater rim. Virtually anyone can do it if they take their time. Try not to wear sandals but if you have nothing else you won't regret it. Great views of Honolulu and the Ocean. Cool bunker from WWII as well for history buffs.

Very hard to find parking here. If you go, ride the bus. Beautiful area and probably would have been a great hike up to the top if we could have found a parking space even remotely close to Diamond Head.

we walked the 6.5km to the top of the crater from waikiki beach. It wouldve been better to catch the #2 bus from kuhio ave though, which we did on the way back.

The crater itself is amazing, especially the view from the top. Bring lots of water, because its a long climb without any taps or anything.
