The hike to Diamond Head was great! The hike itself is not too difficult, but it gets a little steep towards the top. There are also quite a number of stairs in the last section which makes your footing challenging if the ground is wet. Shoes with some traction are very helpful. The views from the top are well worth the hike. The difficult part of Diamond Head is definitely the parking. Very small parking lot that was full by the time we arrived at 7:15 a.m. on a Saturday morning. They let you into the parking lot even though it is full, then you drive around waiting for spaces to open up. It is a very small lot, we waited about 20 minutes (until after 7:30 a.m.) for some buses to leave which finally gave us a space. Great hike, worth the time but be sure to arrive early to get a parking space.
