“Best happy hour, great service, free popcorn, yummy bar food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

We just got back from staying at the Hale Koa and the Warrior Lounge was one of our favorite parts about the trip! Happy hour is from 5:00-6:30. 22 ounce beers for $4, you can't beat that! They also have deals on wells and wines. There is a complimentary popcorn machine, a beautiful view of the park and beach, and wonderful service! David, Woody, and Bobby were great bartenders. They went out of their way for their customers. There was another older bartender, unfortunately we don't remember his name, but he was great too! We stayed there from May 28th to June 2nd and went every single night except once. We looked forward every day to starting our night here with good drinks, tasty popcorn, and friendly service! There bar food menu is great too! The wings were our favorite. We loved it here!

“Surprisingly good food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

I must must must tell you, the bar menu here is excellent for its price. It's not extensive, but it's good. I had $7 mahi sliders that were far better, truly succulent, and creative with pii buns, compared to dried out fish tacos I had the day before at one of wailiki's most estabished bars at twice the price. The wait service was poor but about par for the course in a military restaurant. The maj two's were pretty good at happy hour! A little harsh in taste, surely not the equal of The Moana, but at forward as good as Margaritaville's, and a bargain at twice the price. Bottom line: this place is with a stop early in your trip if you're here for more than a few days!

“I like this place for happy hour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

Go for Happy Hour. 5 - 6:30pm, I think. You can park in the Fort Derussy parking garage. Bring your parking ticket because you need to get it validated.
Walk across the street and up the giant stairs to the Hale Koa hotel. The stairs are too big for one step and too small for two. Can't remember any steps anywhere with this odd configuration.

The Warrior Lounge is upstairs if you approach it from the hotel. You can also get there from the beach. The A/C keeps it very cool - just like a lounge should be. You can sit at the bar or sit at the tables and chairs in the adjoining room.

I was drawn back to Warrior's with the memory of Happy Hour beers and shrimp cocktails. You know the ones where the shrimp hang over the edge of the glass. But alas the back kitchen grew tired of peeling shrimp, and the shrimp cocktails are no more. They have been replaced by ten cent peel-your-own shrimp. Not as good, but more than acceptable.

At the bar was a friendly guy from Kauai. The 22 oz draft beers are $4.00. I was led astray by a Yelp report that the smaller drafts for $3.00 were 16 oz. No, no, no. They are 14 oz only. Stick to the big ones and never forget that beer is sacred. Good beers here on tap, including Longboard.

The Ahi sliders ($6.00) on taro bread buns are very, very good. A little better than the steak panini sandwich (about $7.00) which is good also. The popcorn is free from the machine. Curiously, the machine is emptied at the end of HH.

I cannot comment on later in the night. Seems odd to me that the place closes too early when there is a bunch of people there. They should figure out their staffing situation and stay open longer in a win-win situation where they make more money and the crowd can stay and enjoy their fun.

The HH crowd is a diverse mix of people, so most of you will feel comfortable. When you leave you can stroll by the beach. Don't forget to validate!

“Don't go to Comedy night if you're under 60 and non military”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

We went to their comedy night last night and it was the worst show I've ever been to. After the couple next to us left, mumbling "this is terrible" we felt permission to leave too. The show costs $15 for 1.5 hours. Granted they might have some good talent in there sometimes, the comedian we saw Bo Irvine was AWFUL. None of his jokes were original, i.e. women are good drivers because they can put on makeup while they drive, if he took viagra and still had an erection after 4 hours he wouldn't be calling the doctor he'd be showing it off. And then about 30 mins just on military jokes. I looked around at the crowd and it was 75% senior citizen and they were the only ones laughing, but I would even call it chucking. I found out later the hotel this bar is in is military.
Also the bartenders are rude! My husband asked for a water and the bartender cut him off while he was still speaking to sternly say "I'll be with you in a minute SIR!". Like he was too busy to make driinks and hear someone ask for water at the same time.
Anyways, don't waste your time!!
