We ended up eating here as we were looking at the menu a passer by commented "that'll be the best pork chop you ever eat"... and it was.

The service was excellent, great recommendations and the meal was very quick to come out.

I went to this joint for the first time with my partner who has eaten here quite a bit and I was not let down! The food was brilliant! Came a second time on my own!(shhh) the poke and the korabatu(sp?)(pork cutlet) are lovely! My order was delayed ad they served me a potato salad on the house that was just amazing. The combination of spices are great! And definitely suggest the Sake there as well.

Review is for their location inside Shirokiya in Ala Moana Center.

Tried this on recommendation by a classmate. I was happy to learn I could get this in Shirokiya instead of having to go to their first restaurant in Waikiki.

Atmosphere:
Located inside Shirokiya. They took over the Ikemen dip ramen spot and have their own countertop seating for around 8 people.

Food:
#2 Kimu tamago don - Small pork cutlet over an egg omelette simmered in a sauce similar to a chicken hekka broth (sweet & salty shoyu/mirin) over rice. The tonkatsu was a bit dry and looks nothing like the succulent pictures that adorn the walls. The egg was delicious and the flavor that spilled onto the rice was heaven!

Service:
My other half did the ordering while I was getting our ramen, so I can't comment on this.

Overall:
Concept and story is cool, but the tonkatsu didn't deliver.

Carefully created Tonkatsu is very tender, juicy and flavorful on the inside - and crunchy on the outside. Our new favorite! The kids raved about this place and they definitely want to come back! The meal comes with all you can eat finely grated cabbage salad - which is surprisingly simple yet refreshingly good! Excellent miso soup as well (refillable as well)... put a couple drops of tabasco for a nice kick! Rice was definitely high grade & cooked extremely well. It was super white and shiny - excellent moisture, great taste! A bit pricey. This place is hands down, THE best Tonkatsu restaurant!
