“GLAD I ate there Yakitori”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2013

Nice restaurant in now trendy area on Kapahulu Ave east side of Waikiki. Next to a Pizza Hut this Yakitori restaurant. There is nothing that I can say that you can not already read in the hundreds of reviews.. in fact I do not want to promote because then I will not be able to get a table in warmer front part of the restaurant. I like the Yakitori.. the service and the atmosphere.. the owner survivor of cancer found Hawaii as his saving place both for his body and his spirit. Everything is $3.90 even the beer and pitchers are $11.70. Y0u can get 10 items for $40 plus beer and tip. Nice for group dining and fun.

I would like however to see a bar outside on the street or in the back like in Tokyo.. Daimon has the best Yakitori restaurant ever.. because there is a standing bar on the street and you can eat drink beer and sake while while... looking up at Tokyo Tower.. and always the best thing about Japan.. food is sacred, No tax No tip No attitude from servers..

but hey.. its Hawaii.. and you are lucky to find a restaurant that does not just force you to eat fried carp.. then rip you off and or Asian food that is loaded with brain killing MSG in your food. I think the Kenji the owner should take over the Pizza Hut space on the corner.

I hope that other companies do not try to copy this establishment one of many now that is making Kapahula a trendy street for dining at night.. if only there were some dance clubs and more bars with a little entertainment Kapahulu would be even more cool. The city needs to have better bus service and also JTB trolley service to reach this area as it is too far to
conveniently walk from Waikiki Beach.

“Hawaii's place for Yakitori”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2012 via mobile

Yakitori Glad is by far one of my favorite izakaya's to hang out with friends or family. Everything on their menu is $3.90 including the drinks. The staff here are very super friendly and professional. After you paid your tab and start walking out the door, don't be surprised if one of their staff walks out with you to bid you farewell thanking you for your business. Just an awesome place you should check out, you will not regret it.

“Cheap eats and friendly staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 13, 2012

Been there twice in 2 weeks, took our friends the second time. Free parking in small lot in back. Everything on the menu, including pint of draft beer, is $3.90 !
This is an Osaka-based chain and this is their first restaurant outside of Japan. The menu is mostly different types of grilled or ground barbecue chicken sticks, salads ,soups.
I haven't tried everything, but whatever we had was really tasty. The staff is amazing, so friendly, smiling, warm...you really feel welcomed and relaxed. It's a fun atmosphere and good, simple, casual food. We will be back again soon! Oh...and the guys on the barbecue were brought from Japan to do it right!
