“Interesting architecture, really nice people”
Reviewed September 14, 2012

We thought there was a guided tour of the Capitol Building, but it is only a self- guided tour. The architecture is unusual, with an open center court and the lower area shaped like a volcano. But there is not so much to see there. However, the people who work in the building were so nice! On the fifth floor, the Governor's secretary invited us into his office (he was away) and took pictures of us standing behind his ceremonial desk.

“Interesting Building”

Unusual architecture, lovely grounds. Being from Pennsylvania, found the replica Libertyy Bell a quaint site. The Capitol is in a tranquil area except the traffic

“VISITORS are WELCOME to the Governor's office!”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

If you have the time, take the elevator up to the top floor. The Gov. and the Lt. Gov's conference rooms are like mini musuems. Many unique historic items are on display. Great view of the City too! This is a unique capitol building surrounded by water filled with Koi fish. The Capitol is in the back of the Iolani Palace.

“The Capitol H Building”

Free to walk around sometimes they let you in to listen to some of the meetings and you know going to be boring and the plus watch your elected constituents in action.

“Nothing like it anywhere that I know of.”
Reviewed July 17, 2012

Unique in lots of ways including that legislators cannot enter the meeting chambers without first going where the "people" have gathered. I am certain that this doesn't necessarily make for better deliberation, but it would make me more cognizant of constituents if I had to pass by the "people" and not enter by a special doorway.

My advice. Take a tour (Saturdays) sponsored by the architects of Hawaii and you will enjoy and appreciate this capitol much more than just a casual visit as well as the other beautiful buildings nearby.
