This is a free hour long performance with hula dances and Hawaiian performers. The performance takes place on the Kuhio Beach Hula Mound, diagonally across Kalakaua Ave. from Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach hotel at Uluniu Ave (near Duke Kahanamoku's statue). Check the website for exact timings, typical times are Tues-Thurs-Sat-Sun, weather-permitting. 6:30- 7:30 p.m. (6:00-7:00 p.m. Nov-Dec-Jan).
The performance takes place outdoors, you can grab your beach chairs/mats to view the show. Cameras are allowed. The show begins with torch lighting and blowing of the conch shell. There are several performances by the hula dancers and a few old ladies who volunteer.
The performances were good. Of course the scale of the show is not as grand as the many luaus on the island. But if you don't/can't go to a luau, the Waikiki beach hula show is a good option.
