Everywhere says it is the place to snorkel, but as fish cannot be fed anymore, and because of too many tourists it was very bland and better places elsewhere to snorkel. Plus not enough public transport. Had to stand on The Bus for trip there, and it did not pick up after our stop so many others missed out.

When we went it seemed like a good time, we got there about 9:30 am and everything seemed clear. The beach was not immaculate as trash had seemed to wash up on the shores. I have been snorkeling and at sea before, but somehow managed to get seasick from snorkeling in the what I'm guessing was higher tide. The waters were also murkier from this. It is a bit hard to swim over some of the coral as some of them nearly reach the surface of the water. You must watch a video about not stepping on the coral, but many people do and I assume it is because there are not many sandy spaces to stand and gather your bearings. We were able to see a few nice fish and a sea turtle though and did have a pretty nice time regardless.

Had a great time and would go again. Very steep hill going down to the beach but they have a cart to ride for a small fee.

This was my first experience at snorkeling and what a wonderful place at Hanauma Bay. The scenery and temperature was like being in paradise. I got to see some lovely tropical fishes. We got there around 12:00 noon and between 12:00 and 12:15, we expereinced "high tides", so we had to come closer to the shore. It was breathtaking and i do plan to take my children next time we come!

We did not chose to go down to the bay but just shot our pictures from the rim The views are awesome and you pay $1 to park there is even some snacks and drinks and restrooms available for you which is nice if you are out on the do it yourself drive tour
