I wanted to offer a second, higher rank, review in light of improvements that Honolulu has made. Previously I had commented that there was a large tree at the Diamond Head (east) end of the park that was plagued with a community of squatters. Not a week or two after my post the city had cleared them out, left the area closed for awhile, but it’s since reopened and the squatters have not returned.

The efforts they’re making to fix the irrigation systems have significantly greened up Magic Island. And now they’re renovating the big restroom and shower area at the Magic Island entrance and making some improvements at the Ewa (west) end.

Kudos to the city/county for really taking an interest in making the park a place I look forward to running through each weekend and a place I can bring my friends and family to when they visit.

A place to swim long distance without having to turn the way you would in a swimming pool. swimming there is very safe. Plus you can do other water exercises there too.

It's walking distance where we stayed in Waikiki twice a year, but we didn't want to go there unless there's an event
