My comments pertain to the water element at Ala Moana only, not the park.

For swimming, this is my go to on Oahu. It’s sheltered inside the reef, usually calm and safe with a mostly sandy bottom stretching almost a mile in an East-West orientation. Life guards are present, restrooms nearby, lots of free parking and fresh water showers are sprinkled throughout, to wash off when you’re done swimming.

For sun-bathing, paddle boarding, fun & frolick or serious swimming-for-exercise, this is by farthe best spot on Oahu.

What more can you say about the great beaches of Oahu.
The water is great, the sand here is soft. there is a nice view of the coastline.

There’s renovations going on currently but it does not affect use of the park. Great place to go for a beach day, taking family photos or scenery pictures, a place to exercise, have a beach party, relax, hangout, walking/running paths, stand up paddle board, surf are just something you can do. Ala Moana a shopping center is right across the street if you want to shop or eat. There’s quite a few hotels close by too. And it’s the go to place for the annual 4th of July fireworks show and the Lantern Floating ceremony. As with any other beach parks. make sure to not leave valuables in your cars, lock your cars, not leave valuables in plain site when you go into the water, have your items in your plane of site, not use restrooms by yourself (if you can help it) where there are suspicious people around. All in all, this beach park is great to visit.
