We went to look and swim at the beach to say we had been there. It as under whelming at best. Too many people- on and off the beach. My family came out of the water worse for wear from sharp rocks and collisions with others and boards. Far better beaches around Oahu and beyond.

As great as the rumours! Suprisengly enough space to lay down a the beach. Every day I thought it to be crowded, but it wasn’t. The water is great and you can walk out in the water with just the feeling of sand between your toes. The water is kind of waveless nearby because rocks stops the heavy waves further out. Enjoy the fantastic pacific ocean!

Been here a few times. The BEACH is crowded but shallow forever! If you stay at a hotel on the beach, although expensive, you can enjoy the beach and any tourist attractions. If you want to soak in the culture or see ‘paradise ‘ venture out of Waikiki and pull onto the side of any coastal road, walk through a few trees, and you will find your own stretch of private beach... PARADISE!

Although the beaches are gorgeous, fun, warmer than east coast beaches, and have great waves, the area is SO commercialized. It’s overcrowded with tourists and the main strip, Kalakaua Ave, is one high end store after another.
If your looking for a more local feel, head out to the North Shore.

We stay on the North Shore but often stop and spend a few hours at Waikiki Beach. The best time for us is pre sunset. The views are fantastic. Try sitting at Duke's while eating it is worth it.
