The title says it all. The restaurant is located along a relatively quiet street but the quality of food makes the visit worthwhile. Strongly recommend the Japanese rib eye steak, beef stew and pork! An average meal will probably cost $20 per person, but be prepared to spend up to $50 per person if you want to pamper yourself to good food and alcoholic drinks.

It seems as though half of the restaurants in Waikiki are Japanese sushi restaurants. What differentiates Chiba Ken is that the other items are very well prepared. I'd suggest the yaki niku or some of the skewers of grilled meats and vegetables.
Staff was efficient even though they were busy.

My partner and I showed up here on the advice of the concierge at our hotel... We didn't make a reservation (tip for the future - make a booking). The place is popular and was very busy! However, the staff were accommodating and we waited only 20 minutes for seats at bench/bar.

Service was efficient and attentive, the atmosphere was great, watching the staff making food was good fun, and the food was soooooooo good. Everyone around us seemed to be having a good time and ordering loads of food, and we found out why. Melt in your mouth sushi and sashimi, chicken skewers and gyoza were yum, tempura prawns, asparagus wrapped in pork... The list goes on... All delicious! And for me, lemon sour shochu made just how I've had it in Japan!

It's off the beaten track, it's not near the beach with a view, but it's good Japanese food and a nice change to get away from the hustle and bustle.

This was our first meal on the island & it was absolutely delicious. The waitresses were very patient, explaining what each meal had on it. One even brought me some Japanese potatoe salad because I asked what it was on someone's plate. Cooks & all were very friendly.
